It'll all depend on how far you drive per month. if you're buying secondhand, you're not tied to the 3 month / 6 month schedule, so you can save on maintenance if you use it only sparingly.
And insurance costs a hell of a lot more for a brand new car.
Not all "dos litros" are built the same. Parts for an Accord or Camry 2.0 cost more than parts for a Civic or a Corolla 2.0. You still pay the 5-6k yearly registration on either, because they're all considered luxury cars, but I can tell you, from experience, it's much easier to maintain a compact 2.0 than a mid-sized one.

If you want we could quantify your question into the following items on a monthly basis:
1. Gasoline expense - - P4,000
2. PMS (chane oil etc) - P1,000 (at an average P3,000 per quarter/3 months)
3. Registration - - - - - P 500 (at an estimated P6,000 per year inclusive of TPL/12 mos)
4. Compre. Insurance - P1,000 (at P12,000 per year/12 months
5. Tires - - - - - - - - - P 250 (P3k per tire * 4 tires = P12k/4 years=P3k/12 mos=P250)
6. Other expenses - - - P 150 (other ek-eks na baka mabili mo para sa kotse)
Total - - - - - - - - - - P 6,900
divide it by 35% (which is your disposable income after ever deductions, living expenses, etc)
you get P18,572
This amount will be your minimum salary. That is there are no other variables like (loan repayments, etc).

Kasi kuryente, tubig, panglamon mo pa. Pag umuupa ka pa bahay kasama pa yun. Pero pag katas ng mana yung bahay eh menos na yun.

will try to find a xerox copy ng rehistro nun... heck mas mahal pa nga rehistro ng 1996 kia pride ko than that maxima,e....
pero--bakit ganun-- why is it that the SX4 (either sedan or crossover) 3-yr registration costs 12T++ while the APV costs only 8500???
(according to suzuki flyer i got last month when i inquired about the sx4 crossover)
as i recall, dilang naman limited sa suzuki vehicles yun..Last edited by alwayz_yummy; June 27th, 2010 at 11:04 PM.

Thanks for the replies! Interesting posts! One of the reasons too if ever I'm going to buy a dos litros is for the feeling of a less bumpy ride. Are there any compacts (Civic or Corolla etc..) that will match the ride comfort of an Accord or Camry? Hyundai Tucson looks great too, I wonder how much is the maintenance of a Tucson?
