Hello Tsikot peeps! Am seeking advice regarding a career decision… I’ll give the scenario first. I’m a mech’l engr, 27 yrs old and currently employed in 1 of the largest multinational company in semiconductor industry for more than 3 yrs now. Compensation, benefits are ok. No complains whatsoever… but the thing is and the reason behind I took up mech’l engineering course is to be employed in the automotive industry. I have long dreamt of being employed in one. (not the dealership stuff) I want to be in a plant where all the technical stuff are… last year I applied in one of the Japanese automotive firms which have a plant in the laguna area. (2nd largest jap carmaker worldwide). To make the story short, they tried to hire me. But they only matched my salary from my current job, which
kind of disappointed me and decided to stay…
Last week I saw a job opening in the same jap company and I again applied. They’ve reached me already and scheduled me for an interview tom… I’m not sure what would be the result but I’m a little confident that I have chance (same position I applied for last yr).
My question is, if you were in my position… money not an issue now… what would you do? Will you be willing to take the risk to start over again? Sacrifice your length of service?… me personally, if ever I make it again. I’m leaning towards accepting their offer… but still having second thoughts. Need advice guys, especially those tsikoteers who are very successful now… from your experience what career path would you follow? Thanks guys!![]()
