    Kia Rio rear

    Kia Opirus dash

    Some comments:

    Kia Rio
As for our brief test drive, I was surprised that the Rio has a responsive 1.4 engine. There is room for three (see the pic above) but the shoulder room is not good. The manual gearbox is better than the Accent and the clutch is soft. Plasticky as expected.

    Kia Sorento
Was able to drive this vehicle before and again, the ride is soft (better than the Fortuner of course). Spacious indeed.

    Kia Carens (under consideration)
I think this should be sold here. 3rd row seat legroom is like innova's and it folds flat. It also has a CRDi engine.

    All new Sedona
looks good and competitive. Power sliding doors is a gem

    Kia Opirus (under consideration)
hmmm...I think the Magentis is more feasible. Though interior has acceptable quality. LED front signal lamps looks good.

Kia Rio and Sorento yung pinapatest drive. Till tom pa ito. and yes, crdi pareho ang sedona and carens.

sayang....kahapon ba nagsimula..(makakatakas sana ko papunta dyan kasi sandali lang me sa school)

anu masmaganda sa carens&sedona? avail na ba sa dealers natin? 1.5M better option to kaysa sa starex, and the expensive previa!

hi. would you know how much the new sportage will retail? does it come with CRDi? looks like a crv but with CRDi (a definite advantage). if the price is good, looks like they have a winner.

btw, i just noticed. mukhang binalik na pala ng kia ang old logo nila. good decision.

Kita ko sila carlo (again! parati sa mga events na ganito :D)and group sa may Carens while on my way to test drive the Sorento. Anyways, pagbalik ko biglang na wala na sila. Kayo ba yung naka convoy ng red CRV and Ford Lynx RS na paalis?

The Sedona seems quite impressive! The inside is almost like the Previa, with all the floor folding rear seats and all. I wonder where is its spare tire bec. I failed to find one. Pricing is very important. If they hit the sweet spot then they can steal market shares from the defending competition.

I was really disappointed because I thought they were offering test drives for the Sedona (Previa-killer) and the Sportage! Sadly, I had to settle for the Sorento since I travelled this far already.

Now on to my Sorento test drive report. First thing I noticed when I turned the ignition on is that the diesel engine is really quiet and absolutely no vibration whatsoever. Under acceleration, the engine somehow grunts like an Elf and an Alterra but to a lesser degree. The transmission is a bit hesistant to move up or down when I accelerated then suddenly braked then back up the accelerator again. The second row seats are way too soft almost like a couch that devours your butt. Of course, comparing it to my Fortuner, the Sorento cannot compete in ride height (I like 'em high!) and the interior styling is eons behind. Color scheme is a little too subtle to the point of being drab. But I'm quite astounded with the progress the Koreans are making! They got the quality right and now all they need is the styling and they can go head on with the Japanese and Euro.

    quick review...

    Sorento
    - a little engine vibration upon acceleration from standstill
    - good pulling power, linear power delivery, turbo kick is negligible
    - brake pedal is too soft though has adequate stopping power
    - needs a little more body control especially when braking
    - great steering feel - as if you are driving a sedan
    - great looking interior

    Rio
    - decent power for a 1.4L engine
    - kinda cheap looking plastics
    - surprisingly roomy inside
    - great looking HB variant
