I'm using race meter for torque pro app and bafx bluetooth obd 2 dongle. Works good!

We have a saying in the u.s. army : KISS (keep it simple stupid). The on board driver information system or the instrument panel should be enough while driving. Leave the on board diagnostics in the shop if the car is operating erratically or the malfunction indicator light is flashing or stays on. Leave the diagnostics to the trained and competent technician.
I also occasionally use an app (only as a speedometer) when I'm bored...
Would be nice if Waze/Google Maps support HUD mode.
itdbe nice if google maps have a settable speed limit warning chime.

I use my torque pro app mainly to monitor intake air temps and exact water temp - the digital dash temp gauge will not show movement from 80-95°C. With torque pro, I can see it, and I have set it to alarm when it reaches 93°C. I don't want my engine running hotter than 95°C. Since I don't have an EGT gauge yet, this works for me.
It is very important that I know when to take it easy on the throttle. I usually haul heavy stuff/people with my turbo diesel suv. Keeping water coolant temps in check will ensure a long service life for my engine.

balikan ko itong thread na ito...
saw a wireless HUD sa Lazada, rechargeable sya, will only tell you the time and speed.
Do you think it's useful? or pa-cute lang?
Planning to get it as a gift since walang plan yung owner mag-dashcam
Hud is extremely useful. Glancing down at the speedo can be very distracting....

Kahit speedo lang ok na.
If driving on track tachometer, gear, and maybe oil/water temps would be nice.
Thats why its a HUD doc. To make it -less- distracting. It projects at eye level and ive used cars with and without a HUD. And ive definitely noticed the difference....

I would love to have a HUD at eye-level on my windshield. If it can display the details below, I would be a happy camper.
Speed
RPM
Percent acceleration (or power)
Oil Temperature
Boost pressure
Outside Temperature
Compass heading

"if you need it, it's not a distraction."
"if you want it, it's a distraction."
we're just driving a car.
we're not out to cross carburators with anyone.

Guess it depends on the person. We are all different naman.
If you think of the car as a utilitarian device then it may not be needed.
But if its part of your work (logistics, trucking, transport), or cars are a passion to you (enthusiasts) then definitely the advantages are there to be had.
I fall in the later category. I like my cars with tech and power and innovation. Others couldnt care less. And hence there are different categories, brands, models, variants, displacements, configurations and consumer segments.
Once upon a time, power windows and power steering where an optional luxury...its now a standard necessity. Macho drivers then scoffed at it.
Once upon a time, a backup camera was a high end feature. Drivers then said they preferred their mirror. Now 360 cameras are making parking even safer.
Once upon a time, gps in a car was rocket science. Now even motorcycles use waze.
I can go on and on and on. We will all benefit from these...either in efficiency, safety, comfort and in the near future...automated driving assistance. Radar cruise control is a god send...but even that is considered old school nowadays. Lane keep assist, center lain assist, auto steering, start stop traffic radar assist, rear cross assist, collision detection and assist.....these will all be standard in a few years.
