to admins and mods,
i think we should have a "safety" thread for the tsikot community.
a simple reminder lang to our fellow motorists, passengers...there are incidents kasi na maaari nating maiiwasan if we practice safety.
if we love our family, its not too late... it should start from us.

OB,
The first question is WHEN do you perform CPR. It might sound trivial but a friend of mine was put in such a predicament last year.
So in the interest of life preservation, she peformed CPR. Unfortunately doing CPR is very uncomfortable [and painful] when done on a living and coherent person. Up to now we still joke about that incident.

Child seats, I'm amazed on how much excuses parents make as to why their child should'nt use them...
The most common "lumaki naman tayo wala nyan ah" - Stupid reason.
Even worse are people who refuse to wear seatbelts just because "magugusot suot ko."
Regarding CPR, si Doc na bahala dyan, but a member of Kotse.com posted several pics that I kept and printed... Left copies sa shop, bahay at kotse hehe.

Safety also includes road courtesy like signalling before changing lanes; merging smoothly with moving traffic; following traffic lights, and other supposedly basic things that we sometimes take for granted because we are in a hurry, in a bad mood, fatigued, etc.

seatbelts and child seats are very very important, to be sure.
but you know what is so completely unsafe and irresponsible, yet i hear it discussed so casually and accepted on this forum?

dahilan naman ng dad ko is "nasasakal ako eh".
sarap din siya sakalin pag sinasabi niya yan. buti sana if his head is hard enough to protect him once his head hits anything hard inside the car, eh hindi naman. given the way that he drives pa, he ABSOLUTELY needs a seatbelt.
sa subic lang siya voluntarily magsusuot ng seatbelt. gahhhhhhh.
i nominate my dad sa "you can't teach old dogs new tricks" category.

OT: haha.. ganyan din ako dati, pasaway.. tas' pag naobliga magsuot, nasa ilalim ng kili-kili nakalagay at di sa shoulder.. pero since i witnessed an accident a few years ago, i started wearing one and wear it properly..
sumobra naman yata ngayon, kasi pag-start ko pa lang ng engine suot agad seatbelt kahit sa kabilang block lang punta. and i never roll hanggat di naka-seatbelt lahat ng sakay ko..
back to topic: always have a first-aid kit sa vehicle... you'll never know when you need one..

Sir may ambubag naman (para hindi mag mouth to mouth).
Kaya daw pala parang napapadilat sa sakit yung tao habang nagche-chest compressions siya...
Hindi naman makapagsalita dahil intubated.Last edited by OTEP; October 6th, 2006 at 03:37 PM.
