I got the Spytec A119 with GPS logger for $79.95 at newegg.com. I just looked at newegg.com again. They jacked up the price to $99.95. Ha Ha!

Amazon also has it for $99.95.

We're not that different here now that I thought it over. We have our share of dumb drivers who should never have a driver's license. Friday nights are especially dangerous when we have a lot of drunk drivers (and possibly others high on weed).

Anyway, I plan on buying the Yi as separate rear cameras. I think it's a superb alternative. Thanks for drawing attention to it.

Tomorrow, we'll be on the road.

For now, this is what I have recorded that I did not (yet) erase.

Because of the new dashcam rules (cam must be behind the rear view mirror) mine keeps on falling off kasi no choice but to stick it up higher >_<

That's where my dashcam is located. Once I'm driving, there's no way to fiddle around with it because of the rear-view mirror. I set everything beforehand while the car is parked.

One weakness I noticed with the Spytek A119 is after driving all day with temperatures in triple digits ~115F, the video quality starts to suffer, especially at night. The constant recording to disk already heats up the unit. The triple digit temperatures do not help matters any. It still does the job though.

Another test of the Spytek A119, this time in normal city driving back in my local area. There is a film of dust covering the windshield glass outside. So, the readability and overall picture quality is reduced.

Yes. Cars making a left turn are allowed to stop in the middle of an intersection during a green light so long as they don't block their opposites who are also making a left turn. The next light after the green light is always a green left arrow.

    As a follow up.....

The A119 mounts are permanent. The GPS portion is actually a mount as well. So, once it's set on the windshield, it stays there. I can detach the A119 dashcam itself, but not the GPS.

I also have regular adhesive plastic mounts included. I stuck one on the windshield of my other car, allowing me to use the dashcam there. But, there is no GPS function.

I have the dashcam mounted right behind the rearview mirror. All adjustments have to be made prior to driving because it requires shifting the mirror out of the way.

I highly recommended this Dash Camera (affordable, well-built and captures bright videos at night)
