Im now considering the Autopage or Code-Alarm, saang shop ang ok mag install (malinis/maganda)? Banawe Area?

    Some features:
    - Lock/Unlock
    - Code hopping
    - Starter/Ignition kill once nag arm na sya
    - When u step on the brakes, once after disarming it (n pag start nang engine) nag lock
    - Alarm Remote reprogrammable, kaya pag nasira pwede palitan.
    - ATBP

    Guys,
    Hi! Need your expert advice:

I narrowed down my choices to Code Alarm CA640, Clifford Avantgard 5, and Clifford Matrix RSX3.5. Which one would you recommend, and which installer/ shop is the best for each brand?

Thanks in advance and it will be very much appreciated!

I find the remote start useful during the summer months when (1) you need to have the A/C running first ('pre-cooling', as opposed to 'pre-heating' during winter months); (2) and when your car is diesel-powered, where you have to get the engine warmed-up a bit before you get rolling. By the time you get inside and insert the ignition key, malamig na ang sasakyan mo, and the desired operating temperature of the engine is achieved.

Inserting the ignition key even after your car was remotely started is actually a security feature, and not a redundancy. For obvious reasons.

For me, it's not actually a waste of money. You get something and benefit out of it. But then, that's just me. Well, kanya-kanyang preference lang 'yan.

it's a waste of fuel trying to decrease the temperature of hot air trapped inside a car. it takes longer than if you were to heat up the interior. you'll have to exhaust the trapped hot air inside, but all cars don't come equipped with a device to do this task. unless you can remotely open the windows of the car. there are now aftermarket modules that you can buy and install in your car, so you can remotely control your windows. this is an additional expense on top of the price you pay for the remote starter module. it's not a smart purchase if your only reason for having this device is to cool down the interior during summer, but what do i know? it's not my money.

btw, most cars and trucks now come equipped with engine block heater. this helps keep the engine warm and allows for easier start up and quicker warm up. the days of five- minute or ten-minute warm up are gone.

security feature for thieves, yes. convenience? no. if you still had to insert the key in the ignition, then what's the point of having one? might as well manually start it and bring the coffee mug with you.

in my personal and humble opinion, i see this device as more of a "i want it, 'cuz it's a cool gadget" rather than "i need it" item.

Remote starting your A/C for pre-cooling when your car is parked under the blistering sun is surely not a sensible thing to do, fuel-economy-wise. That's why it is recommended that if you plan on remote-starting your vehicle, park in a shaded or well-ventilated areas. It is as sensible as not remote-starting your vehicle in an enclosed area (garage or carport), or when children are inside the vehicle. Every technology has it's limitations.

I'm not an expert on engine block heater, however, it doesn't seem to be the case for cars parked overnight. What i'm aware of is the glow plug that is only activated few seconds before the engine is cranked. Unless, your car is equipped with a high-tech smart glow plug (i.e. PSG or Pressure Sensor Glow Plug) which makes the diesel engine's "thinking time" a thing of the past.

"Need-to-have" and "nice-to-have" is a matter of personal preference

My brother has remote starting on his Montero. Yes it is useful. He gets into his rig and it's already cool despite being parked under the sun. I get into mine, and its hot as hell until the a/c catches up. And remote start works even out of our 2nd floor window.
