The SJ5000+ is not an SJCAM model. It's a generic Chinese action cam that banked on the success of the SJCAM SJ4000 by simply launching a product with a higher number and trying to sell it off as the SJ4000's superior brother, when in reality they're not related.

It's like a Chinese manufacturer releasing a 331i, as a better version of the BMW 330i.

If you're looking for a better alternative to the SJ4000, take a look at the Xiaomi Yi. It has better white balance than the SJ4000, as well as higher-resolution stills (16mp sensor vs 2mp sensor). Local prices are still a bit high though (6k without any accessories or mounts), compared to the SJ4000 WiFi (4.5k).

These action cams don't have IS (not even the GoPro) because their extremely short focal lengths (SJ4000's is only 3mm) naturally avoid shakiness and blur. Such a small focal length also negates the need for autofocus, since that wide of a field of view (170 degrees) means that everything is in focus all the time.

The omission of fancy tech is the reason why action cams come in such small bodies.

I've used the WiFi extensively since my SJ4000 doubles as an action cam and selfie cam. If purely for dashcam use, probably not as useful, since you can just insert the microSD to your phone if you really need to copy a video right away. But since my phone doesn't have a microSD slot, if I need to transfer something I still use the WiFi.

Thanks for the info. I will get an el cheapo action cam with the waterproof case and monopod from OLX. Will try it out. Should have had one with me when I was in palawan. Sayang.

I have both. For what purpose ba gusto mo? DrivePro is a bit good at night recording comparing with SJ4000.

Eto lang mejo diko gusto sa DrivePro:
    - i find it a bit bulky (no big deal)
    - no int/ext batt, only capacitor and per review will last for around 4days unused...
    -mini usb

For SJCam SJ4000, more features and acc included on the box. * i think me mga abubot sya compatible sa GoPro. Hehe

    Hope this helps

'yan, kakabasa ko ng thread na 'to, napabili na ako ng SJCAM SJ4000. I just got it today, so medyo nagkakalikot pa. hehehe.

i already have a car mount (from my old dash cam), but don't have a charger yet (not same as my old dash cam). so my questions are:

    1) can i use the usb cable and get power supply from the usb port of my head unit?
    2) how long will the battery run on continuous video recording?
    3) where can i buy the car charger only? meron kaya nito sa cdrking?

meron nagbebenta bundle (car charger and car mount) but i need only the car charger (na may mahabang cable).

    tnx sa unang makakasagot. =)

    1. Yes you can. The SJCAM's cable is just like that of Android phones.

    2. About 45 min of continuous recording on battery power.

    3. I suggest getting a high quality car charger (I use a Capdase USB charger), but if you wanna cut costs, yes a CDR King USB charger will do.

I would also suggest getting a really long cable so you can have the cable routed up your headliner and A-pillar so it doesn't look messy.

Make sure you get the authentic one. May mga fake din na SJ4000. Officemate ko nag-order sa L*z*d* and turned out it was fake. Video quality was bad.

How can we spot a fake?

SJCAM-branded SJ4000's use a Novatek chipset. Other manufacturers of the SJ4000 use the Sunplus chipset, which has inferior image quality.

Hard to call the non-SJCAM SJ4000s as "fake" since the SJ4000 is basically a GoPro ripoff in the first place. [emoji13]
