Thank you roninxt. Yup, been reading this thread. Dati kasi when there was stiff competition between magellan and garmin and those little known brand may mga compatibility and support issues. I guess it's now safe to buy a garmin anywhere in the world basta wag lang foreign yun language. i'm sure marami akong ma contribute sa road map para makakuha ng contributor's pass. keep on posting peeps.

Garmin supports different languages. Generally English ang default. Yung OSM map is regularly updated, almost daily na ang updates. Yung roadguide naman if you can get the contributors map sabi nila it's ok kasi frequent ang updates.

Last week, OSM started updating the Philippine map almost daily.
Since November I started contributing at roadguide, with 1.09 as the latest version of their contributors' map. I don't know when 1.09 was released, but 1.10 was made available on Feb. 8, 2010. That's not frequent enough for me.
Sure, 1.11 was release only about a week after, but only because of routing guidance issues.
I don't know if the time period between the releases of 1.09 and 1.10 was out of the ordinary, though, since my stay there hasn't been long enough.

March 30th, 2010 06:29 PM #6agree on this. am using OSM for my garmin nuvi. I've yet to see the contributor map of roadguide and i wanted to compare the two. I think it depends on the area covered, one may be more detailed that the other. OSM, being open, is my preferred map though and i now contribute to it as well as report bugs where the changes/corrections I can see on my map in a matter of days

Can I download the OSM map on my garmin? Where? Is it for free or do I have to contribute like in Roadguide?
