guys, need help.
stupid mistake on my part.
accident nalagyan ng paint specks yung fog lamps ko (taiwan ek96-98 square foglamps). so i tried wiping it with cotton balls dipped in acetone. parang lumabo yung glass/plastic.
what should i do to make it clear again? thanks thanks.

Uh... buffing? I don't know if you can fix it... you're not supposed to put acetone on plastic as it melts the plastic... Try my rubbing compound... it might not return it to a completely clear look, but it might make it usable, at least.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

try mo muna wet sanding ng pinakamataas na grade ng sandpaper, then rubbing compound and then polishing compound naman, glass siguro yan kasi pag plastic subrang init pag naka bukas foglight mo matutunaw yan.

Sorry, you ruined your fog lamp lens. Acetone eats rubber and plastics, in your case you probably had a really wet cotton ball of acetone. Sanding will make it worse, because it's plastic. Acetone would not have eaten it if it's glass. On any optics you'll want to clean it with something gentle, not abrasives like sandpaper or anything harsh like chemicals (such as acetone you used). However you may try really gently wet sanding it as Raine said, just keep in mind you may damage it more by scratching the lens.
As a reminder, removing paint drops can be done with a clay bar especially so if it's still fresh. Go with the mildest approach first then get more aggressive if nothing happens but keep in mind that aggressive measures might incur damage on the surface.
Either buy a new or surplus unit, or just keep it as it is just save up for it when you have more time I guess.Last edited by mbeige; November 25th, 2007 at 08:39 AM.

Akala ko you will prep your foglamps for a good manicure hehe.
That happened to me long time ago on my big bike's foglamps, hindi na talaga kayang i-retoke kasi tumagos talaga sa plastic lens (hella). I kept it anyway because it had a new "frosted" look

yep, "medyo" nagmukhang frosted look. although it doesn't seem to have any significant effect sa buga ng ilaw, it just looks, hazy.
the cotton ball was not very wet. and i think glass nga yung lens (yung taiwan immitation square fogs ng ek96-98).
have tried "cleaning" the lens with car shampoo and water. mukhang di na kaya. will try wetsanding and rubbing compound. sayang yung isang lens eh.
pag di na talaga kinaya, i'm planning to paint it yellow para di halata.
maraming salamat mga sirs.
I think the problem is A/T has been co-opted by some brands that aren't really A/T, so...
