guys, I was trying to claim insurance, nabangga ko kasi yung bumper ng Kia Sorento ko and it had scratches, eh naasar ako kasi bago. so I tried to claim insurance, passed all the requirements. they even told me mga 4-5k lang daw ang participation. then they called and said the participation was 18k! the may bumper din daw silang available na 17k lang so they suggested me to buy it straight from them. then I said never mind. then they said it still has a discount, it can be lowered to 14k. so naasar ako parang niloloko lang ako, sinabihan ko na lang wag na lang then binabaan ko. I'm going to read the crap stuff written on my insurance thing tignan ko kung ganun talaga. niloloko lang ata nila ako eh. any insight guys? any inputs would be very much appreciated, thanks!

March 29th, 2011 06:35 PM #2Sounds like a rip-off to me.. Since sabi mo nga bago lang yung car mo, dapat wala kang participation sa parts. so your only participation will be the deductible. check mo na lang sa policy kung magkano yung deductible mo. You will start paying participation (depreciation expense) on your replaced parts only after 3 years. Then the older your car gets, the bigger will be your share.

the participation fee is supposed to be set already. Usually around 3K thereabouts. Since your car is new, there is no depreciation charged to you for new parts replaced.

it says din na 3k ang minimum na babayaran, or 1% daw ng reasonable price ng part na yun, so my bumper is 1.8 million? sheesh! i'll talk to them again tomorrow. sarap i-demanda ahhaha!

March 30th, 2011 09:28 AM #5hehe.. I think your claim to replace the bumper was actually denied thats why they are telling you to buy it instead if you want to replace it, since scratches lang nga pala..

March 31st, 2011 03:02 PM #6tama si derf8666.. your insurance will deny your claim since scratch lang naman pala yung sa bumper mo hindi damage..
In may case, bago din yung car ko at nabangga din sa bato during parking.. bali tumupi yung driver side bumper ng mga 2 inches paloob.
What I did was, submitted a notarized incedent report under OD sa insurance ko (own damage - covered sya ng policy ko), photo copy ng license at photo ng car kung nasan yung location ng damage. After ma-assess and estimate sa kasa.. yung napalitan sya..
Bali participation lang yung binayad ko... Bago yung car ko so wala pang depreciation cost.

April 4th, 2011 11:59 AM #7sa pagkakaintindi ko tama ang insurance sir, ang sorento is categorized as commercial vehicle policy or CV ang tawag nila dun, the participation is 1% of total value of the vehicle insured, or 3,000 pesos whichever is higher. so kung ang cost of repair or replaced parts is lower than the participation, talagang no choice ka kundi ikaw na ang sumagot ng expenses. kung inaalok sayo is 14k net of installation kunin mo na sir, mura na yan, kaysa pagpilitan mo pa ipasok mo sa insurance which will cost you 18k!
