The DOE figures are achievable... (16 km/l out of a 2.0 or 2.5 can be done on the highway with long-distance driving)... the problem is, as you can see, the figures are scattershot... some vehicles are more efficient at 60 km/h, others at 50, others at 80... it's not a fair comparison... and you have an even bigger problem due to different drivers, who'll get different results.

Note: at 80 kmh, you can still get 20 km/l out of a Vios 1.5. At 50 km/h, you can get 20-25 out of the Honda or Toyota 1.3s, but you'll never get much more than 16 km/l out of any of the heavy Mazdas.

C!'s results, aside from the unbelievable 38 km/l (such freak occurences are possible... one couple did 40 km/l on a Trooper in an eco-run a few years back, a feat that has never been replicated)... are a good guide, since they are all done on the NLEX, in similar conditions, and most of them are done by Tito Hermoso (so it's the same driver).

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

actually i will never buy a car again if i'd only base the FC from such ECO Runs or Manufacturer's charts...this lesson i learned in a painful way...now i'll buy a car base on what owner's would say...not on a clubmember's opinion.

kung titignan niyo sa ibang angulo, pupwede ring ginawa nila ito to attract more car-wanna-be-buyers. pag nakita ng mga ibang tao na tipid yung ganito at ganiyan eh bibili sila ng sasakyang ganito or ganyan para hindi na mag commute

somehow i believe in DOE's latest eco run... makes sense that the 800cc alto is the most fuel efficient.. but what surprised me in that is the inclusion of C180 in the top 5

followed by the 2 crdi hyundais(getz and accent respectively)

well, that depends on the sales and marketing of the favored car. The fact is that the DOE made the call to car companies to send their cars to join this "eco-run" so yes, definitely results can be used to help sell the cars.

This is nothing new under the sun. Why do you think that the Jazz and City are so favored by the public as economical cars?... Those annual Petron fuel mileage challenge had a lot to do with it and the fuel doesn't really make a big difference.

No, the DOE eco run was actually done in the wee hours of the night to the next day. The big eye bags of all the sales reps and company drivers I saw on the morning after can attest to that.

    just my opinion.
