I know its not a viable solution for today's transport problem but it is a pretty interesting reading. A vehicle with an internal combustion engine running on wood.

Defietly not unheard of, It's just like composting. There are certain land fill sites that run deep large bore pipes down and utilized the methane for a sorce of energy.
Back in Oklahoma city at one of our landfills, and this thing is a freaking monster, it has big smoke stacks with flames that have been buring as long as I can remember.
