mukang mayaman si sir, kailangan ng protection.. hehehe
anyways, if your going for the portable, then just get the vest then put a sheet of metal be-hide it... hindi naman lulusot yung bullet dun. yun ay kung 9mm ang gamit... wala din magagawa yung vest or shield kung armor piercing ang gamit.

tumpak ..
it doesnt mean na bullet proof ang car mo is hindi ka tatakas sa situation .. main purpose nito maka-alis ka sa area.. kaya nga most BP cars has a very big engine para if ever na may humarang sa harap mo pwede mong banggain ito ..
then sooooo many mods ang kailangan ..

No amount of armor will stop a determined attacker.
Nicaragua's exiled president Anastacio Somoza had his car bullet-proofed.
His assassins used a bazooka.

May 19th, 2008 01:19 AM #25Over naman yun. A 50-cal would've been fine.
What I can't understand is why the ideas seem to be so over the top but the means seem so understated. Kung security ang concern pero di naman ganun kalaki ang puwedeng gastusin, some common sense ideas will be more effective:
1. Learn security-related driving -- including what areas to be alert in, pit maneuver, 180 reverse turns, etc;
2. Minimize if not eliminate time spent waiting in the car while not moving -- while parked, in traffic, waiting for gate(s) to open, etc.;
3. When encountering possibly violent people, NEVER get our of your vehicle and always be ready for a quick getaway/collision;
4. In checkpoints, turn off headlights, turn on dome or map lights, open windows a small crack (in case they're NOT cops), and take note of their name(s) and make sure they know it (in case of hulidap);
5. Avoid bringing high-ticket item(s) and/or cash into your car;
Kung hindi ka pa satisfied,
A. Get a weapon and learn to use it safely and properly but well -- don't forget the PROGUN sticker;
B. Bring an intimidating pet with you as much as you can -- a lion or tiger will guarantee results but a large shepherd, doberman, pit, or rott should suffice;
C. Get a bullet-proof vest, if you're REALLY paranoid, maybe throw in a helmet and roll cage -- the advantage to this is, if you do mods to your engine/tranny/brakes as well you can do track days on week ends;
D. Get a security detail.
P.S. -- Forget the shield idea. If improperly fastened, at best it can be blown off at the first shot. Worse, it can take your fingers with it. Plus it's much more cumbersome than a vest.

May 19th, 2008 06:26 AM #26Well. I just saw the news kasi the other day of this person who withdrew money from a paco bank and he was shot in the car before his stuff taken. He happens to be a friend of a friend. He is just 30 years ago and the money withdrawn would be used in his junk shop daw where he pays the junk collectors. The amount he withdrew may be big. But what if the robbers get bolder and would do the same to you for your 50 thousand withdrawal or even for your new ipod? That's why I think a bulletproof car may be a great investment... but the costs seem to be too much considering you also need fast engine. So I think a vest would be better idea where you could use it to deflect bullets in case a one in a 10 million event like it happens. Now I wonder what is the best bulletproof vest available in the philippines that can stop at least a 0.45 calibre gun? I seek a handle where I could hold it from the inside so the vest would be fully used as a shield during times when you are bringing home valuable stuff like diamond ring, etc. or even against carjackers who would first shoot you before acquiring your vehicle.

Tumpak! Basta you do all the necessary precautions on your end, bahala na si Lord. Over yata na magpa-bulletproof ka ng kotse for 50k or worse, for an iPod.
*4JGtootsie, sulit yung smoke detector. I think it should even come before the extinguisher. Early warning, to give you a chance to either get out of the house, or run for the extinguisher. They're very low maintenance (a 9V battery should last you for the entire year), and effective. Sorry kung OT.

well, for the paranoid who cannot afford a BP car, best bet is a BP vest. have seen first hand the effectiveness of a soft-vest made of kevlar. worn by a live pig then shot by a m16 at 30 ft, the kevlar stopped the round, resulting in a 5 inch bruise on the right abdomen. the bullet penetrated all but the last 2 layers of kevlar. the pig? died 4 days after from internal bleeding :D the vest? sold for 2k, used na kasi :D
3M Color Stable series are all above 50% TSER. RFID readable through the tint, stays good for...
What's the best car tint brand and color?
