If they're the same size, halos patas, but AUVs and SUVs usually have bigger diesel engines than their gasoline variants (less power per liter kasi), so they'll take a bit more in terms of oil in the oil change.

If we're talking AUVs, mas mura na kaunti yung regular maintenance ng gasoline variant, (usually smaller engine) but the additional cost of fuel in daily running negates this.

In the long term, diesels are made for higher pressures, so the blocks and heads should be stronger. But diesel injectors and pumps also need more care than gasoline fuel injectors. And if it's turbodiesel, that's a big part that will need careful maintenance.

So.... it depends. Older gas and diesel engines could be kept running forever, but with modern electronics on both, longevity really depends on the durability of the sensors and computer boxes.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

we have a V6 venture. matipid sya sa gas kung long travel without traffic. mas matipid pa sa 4x4 1st gen CRV 2.0. maintenance wise, baka mas mahal ang venture sa sedona.

in terms of driving pleasure, just imagine how it feels like inside a cabin-pressured commercial jet. stress-free and veryyyy smoooth.

and another thing, this car is not that the type na puwede pang-harabas like japanese diesel cars, yun puwede ka lumaban ng biritan sa everyday Manila traffic. kung parati ka nagmamadali, I wouldn't recommend this.

Mas mura and mas madaming parts ang Sedona.

I spend Php 1,500.00 for a regular oil change. Pati air filter ko bago na niyan. Though replacement parts ang gamit ko.

so in reality your question should be "kia sedona ba o chevy venture?"

go for the Kia Sedona! cheaper parts & maintenance.....yun nga lang walang sinabi sya sa features ng Venture! hehehe....

teka diba medyo malayo ang price difference between these two vehicles?

I've never had a gasoline powered vehicle so hindi ko alam ang feeling ng naka-de-gasolina. hehehe.

I'd take a Kia over a similar GM product.

i think this might be a problem for you. i suggest mang-hiram ka muna ng diesel car kung may friends ka na meron just to get the hang of it, before you decide to get a diesel sedona.

Maintenance for diesel and gasoline in comparable to each other, just follow what the manufacturer stated to owner's manual. Medyo mabagal ang diesel engine sa arangkadahan, kaya lang mas malakas humatak. Mas-matipid sa consumo ng gas ang diesel kaysa gasolina. Kung sa akin lang, kung may binibintang diesel Frontier, that would be my first choice.

^IMO for 1st-time car owners, the fuel (gas or diesel) doesn't really matter...so kung saan ka mas comfortable go for it, yun nga lang mas madalas ka magpapaservice kapag diesel kasi nga mas madali dumumi ang makina at iba syempre ang performance ng diesel, like start ups and hatak, baka manibago ka.

i think Kia has improved their quality these past few years, kaya it's safe to say na OK na ang Kia ngayon, pero dapat bago ka bumili ng 2nd hand na sasakyan magsama ka ng mekaniko or friend na marunong tumingin para di ka ma-goyo.

and lastly, don't call me sir! bata pa ako! ika nga ni madame auring may asim pa! hahaha

My Kia Sedona (2002 diesel model) just passed the 120,000-km mark, and I'm quite satisfied with it.

Some points that you may want to consider before getting this turbo-diesel are:

    • You have to run below 2,000 rpm until the engine temp rises to normal
    • You have to observe a turbo cooldown period of from 1 to 3 minutes (depending on how far and how strenuously you have driven) before you switch off the engine
    • You have to be religious about the preventive maintenance schedule every 5,000 km or else you'll get poor performance and increased smoke emissions
    • You have to go slow on those inclined driveways or else your front bumper is going to get scratched
    • You have to compensate for the vehicle's greater length and size by installing backing sensors or an undermirror, and being conscious of its blind spots
    • You have to change that dinky OEM horn (that sounds like Road Runner --beep, beep) to a more robust-sounding one
    • You have to adjust to using a foot brake instead of a hand brake

Sorry, but I live in Pangasinan so I can't make any recommendations regarding diesel engine mechanics in the Metro Manila area.

I-search mo lang yung Kia Sedona thread, napag-usapan na yung mga "things to look for" when evaluating a second-hand Sedona. On the other hand, it really is a good idea to have a trusted mechanic along when you inspect a used vehicle.
