February 13th, 2006 01:29 PM #572Dun sa seminar ng Chemrez, they were recommending upto a year as long as it is sealed. If the seal is opened, use it within the month. Why? It was said that the biodiesel will start to react/oxidize the air - bacterial growth and something to that effect.
By the way, they (Chemrez) showed that their bioactiv bottles have manufacturing date read as mont-year-day (Dec 17, 2005 = 120517).

my innova's bd history is:
0000~1000km odo = break-in period, no biodiesel used
1000~6000 km odo = used senbel estrol at 1-liter per full tank
6000~9000 km odo = stopped using biodiesel due to D4D engine woes thread
9000 km odo now resuming use of biodiesel - bioactiv 1-liter per full tank
my hunch is : the reason why there are D4D fuel supply pump failures is lack of lubricity in local diesel.
*altec, are you still using bd on your innova? estrol or bioactiv? still at 1% blend?

Not a good days to start the week. This morning I got my full tank along shell commonwealth. Then I passed along edsa to buy bioexceed at SEA Oil EDSA GMA. They dont have 1 liter stock so I bought 5bottles in 200ml. So I pour the content on my tank opening one by one. On my 4th bottle I missed to catch the "plastic cap lock ring" and it went inside the tank. I don't have any idea of what is inside the gas tank? Do you think that plastic material will do harm on my tank or will clogged the passageway? What do you think guy.

Regarding lubricity, tama ka! Pareho line of thought natin. Di ko na mention sa seminar, kasi napaka rush rush na, and it slipped my mind na rin. But when I started using BD, after a few loads, nag start yung choking problem ko, (remember I mentioned this sa innova thread natin and over at my fuel economy thread), pero nawala after I removed and reinstalled the filter, duda ng mekaniko ko maluwag, kaya may hangin, kaya nag choke. NOW, I think nawala yung problema soon after, kasi nakatulong yung BD use ko sa lubricity requirements, especially with Toyota's finding that a certain spring in the pump is the culprit. Lubricate that spring properly, and it's possible minimize ang problema! Whacha think?
I distinctly remember mr. Dodo Galindo in his soft voice saying that 1% BD will improve diesel lubricity by 32%! Dunno if how may others found that significant to be remembered, kasi nga di ganun inemphasize ni mr. galindo.Last edited by altec; February 14th, 2006 at 10:45 AM.

February 13th, 2006 04:35 PM #578When the sulfur content of our diesel was reduced the lubricity of the fuel was drastically affected. To increase the lubricity mfg had to put in additives. Sa mga studies posted sa biodiesel.org and some data I have a 32% increase in lubricity in B1 is not far-fetched coz sa scar marks on cylinder walls 50% ang reduction sa B1.

Dont worry kasi it will not get into yor fuel sysytem naman. May mga pre filters and strainers ang fuel line kaya lang it could hamper yung flow ng fuel.
