mas maganda sana mag analyse ng fuel consumption kapag may data tayo.

most cars have manufacturer fuel consumption numbers.

for example my elantra 2.0 MPI

    6.4L highway ..actual is 6.5L/100
    7.4 combined... actual is 7.5L/100

how do i achieve this? ultra light foot.

are these numbers achievable in metro manila? of course not hahahah

I have a 1.5L engine, it shows 7.4L/100. So ibig sabihin same consumption lang tayo? I work in Laguna and traffic's not that bad, and most of my route is highway. If ever, that would be around 13km/liter of gas (tama ba computation ko?). I initially thought the consumption is ok, until I saw yours, 2.0 with 7.4/100 consumption...

Guys i have 2.0 engine sedan.. Gas up with Petron Xtra Advanced last monday when we took the car from casa... When i drove from lipa city to our place (16km distance) (32km back and forth) i managed to increased FC from 7km/L to 8.5km/L..I used the cruise control when time permits...

Do you think that the FC can be still improved if i change my fuel into Shell fuel save?

My tire pressure is 48psi, what if i decrease it to 32 which is recommended , does it affect the FC right together with changing the fuel? How it will affect? Increasing FC or Decreasing FC?

Which tire should be higher? Front or rear tires?

    Thanks..

Sharing my FC with 4 different fuel brands:

    1. Shell FuelSave: 8.36 km/L
    2. Petron Xtra Advance: 8.33 km/L
    3. Caltex Silver: 8.39 km/L
    4. Total Premier: 8.33 km/L

    Overall Average: 8.35 km/L

    My methodology is as follows:
    - All figures computed via full tank method
    - Testing was done from July-Oct 2015
    - Each fuel brand was tested for at least 500 km
    - Total distance travelled for the testing was 3,917 km, with 469L of fuel consumed
    - All measurements were done in city driving; driving conditions are never the same, but since the tests were done over several thousand km, the variability evens out and we have pretty consistent results

Conclusion: YOUR FUEL BRAND DOESN'T MATTER.
I've said it over and over again, these fuels are 99% the same and you will get roughly the same performance/FC regardless of brand. There is only a 0.7% difference between the highest FC and the lowest FC, which is very negligible.

I also let my brother use my car and I asked him if he felt any difference in power week in and week out, and he said that it all feels the same. It was pretty much a blind test since I didn't tell him what brand of fuel I was using for that particular week.

    Thanks.

How about engine noice? Or vibration.
May kinalaman ba ito ang fuel brand na gamit?

Wala siya sa Pilipinas. I doubt you'll ever get the same FC as his.

Same lang. Didn't notice any difference regardless of brand.

Since the closure of Pandacan, Shell gets half of their Metro Manila supply from Total's depot in Manila North Harbor, as well as from PTT's depot in Clark. Shell's Central Luzon supply comes from Petron's Bataan Refinery.

The only pure Shell depots in Luzon are Tabangao, Batangas and Poro Point, La Union, and Pasacao, Cam Sur. For the rest of their supply, they just borrow from other depots. This is the same case with all other brands. Petron and Caltex also borrow from Shell's Pasacao depot in South Luzon, Caltex borrows from Petron in Metro areas that their Batangas terminal can't serve. Etc etc - it's common practice in the industry.

So no, one brand's fuel isn't really cleaner than another. Nagkakatalo lang talaga, sa stasyon mismo - are the underground tanks clean? Does the dealer monitor for water intrustion? This is where the multinational brands separate themselves from the small local players who have very poor standards.

So you mean that this is just like fertilizer? Wherein a boatload of fertilizer arrives and different fertilizer brands bring their own branded sacks but get from the same bin? How about Caltex, who claims to have little people in their fuel cleaning the insides of your engine?
