Sir Vinj, lagi ko sinusundan ang thread na ito at I'm cosidering na mag AUTO LPG na din.
Clarification lang po, ung one liter of LPG ilan km po ung equivalent na KM? (paki include po ung vehicle type para me idea ako).
a. Initial cost of LPG conversion - ilang LPG fill-up vs regular gas bago po narecover ung cost (return of investment)
b. Maintenance cost - within the 2.5 yrs of normal operation
c. 2.5 yrs (assuming the same sa post ni Louga) - palit vaporizer (useful life), cost of replacement
On our 2007 Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6 m/t, it does 9-10km/L city driving and 10-11km/L highway driving. This car uses a Greenfuel SGI kit. Per the evaluation of Xoom, the reason why my highway FC is not far off is probably because the system is running rich at high rpm (above 3K rpm); we never got around to tuning it as this will probably need new injectors as well to fine tune. This will be done sometime though as we've be due for a tune-up soon so baka isabay na.
for initial cost, better to get in touch with Xoom for the going price of the SGI kit. I'd assume it's around 40K+ and in our case, we spent this amount at Greenfuel before and binawi ko in less than two years with an average odo of 15,000kms per year.
For maintenance, we only spent around 1K per year for tuning/inspection until we replaced the vaporizer at Greenfuel before, after over 2 years (costs less than 5K). It's not much really if you have a good kit on a good car/engine. I installed mine with only a year and 12,000kms on the car (still pretty much in brand new condition) so there really was not much issue after the initial tuning/testing until we had that backflow problem caused by the busted vaporizer and my busted radiator cap. After that, oks na ulit.
I'd suggest you contact Xoom and drop by his shop. He's very accommodating and you can check out the product first hand.![]()
Maybe one of the reason why manufacturers are not offering lpg ready cars is because of parts reliability. In a bnew car, nothing breaks down or very rarely on its engine, fuel system.
A vaporizer usually has a life expectancy of 2-3 years lang daw, when it breaksdown, di naman catastrophic pero ititirik ka talaga. My sgi is just near its 2nd year and hopefully wag naman masira kasi ito ang part na mejo mahal.
Para di kagad masira, yearly change coolant ako para flushing na din all foreign object sa tubig, i use red long life coolant and ALWAYS wait for the engine to reach half temp before changing to lpg mode.
I also warm up the engine before switching to LPG mode. And i keep the gas cycle mode on (every 15 minutes, the car switches to gasoline for around 5 seconds).
The repairs or preventive maintenance to an LPG system is still affordable and is not outweighed by the fuel savings.
Hi shibby if you actually check subaru UK and Australia they offer LPG conversion with your brand new car. Even Ford does this. Vaporizer life depends on how it was installed and the quality of LPG present in our market.
I have a Innova that's already 4 years old never once did I change the Vaporizer same with my Accord 5 years still have not changed.
*Installed - before your Vaporizer there has to be a LPG solenoid valve with Filter. This LPG solenoid strains the Liquid LPG first before entering the Vaporizer this minimizes Merkaptan build up thus prolonging Vaporizer life.
*Quality - Good vaporizers have premium Diaphragms that do not harden easily over time. This is quality assurance by most Italian and Netherlands made kits.
Best Temp for switch over is 45C ensuring clean burn of LPG.

Do you know that these ASBUwayas actually shy away from testing your vehicle if you say you are using LPG? LOL! I heard this from a friend who has a truck out of Subic that was running LPG said these guys did not want to test his tail pipe coz LPG will damage the sensor daw. It's not true of course but its a win for LPG if that's the case! LOL.
