not only does this improve diesel exhaust, but in the long run it will boost our coco industry, bring back trees to our dessimated hills and free us from solely relying on foreign diesel resource.
    I wouldn't be too hopeful.

We are supposed to be a rice producing country, but we're importing our rice mostly from Thailand. Granted we have less ideal landscapes for rice production compared to our neighbors, but still...

a little bit OT but bear with me a little... one can plant a coconut tree in more places than a rice plant can.

back to the topic, other than improve diesel fuel quality... if we have the capability to build our own engines we may be able to steer things around... also, if we ban importing of used engines, that will help a lot too... hmmm, what else...

How's the availability of biodiesel? Is it cheaper than those found at the gas pump?

biodiesel is an additive that is added to the tank after loading a full tank of diesel fuel (about 1 or 2 liters for a full tank i think), its not a straight fuel that you use pure

yess! pero if biodiesel went a bit down, then we could all use BD in full tanks. :D

even though we are a rice producing country, we still have to be open minded about other ways of uplifting our economy at least by an inch or so.

Nope, Chemrez also makes biodiesel although theirs is more expensive at P125/ltr. compared to senbel's at P66/ltr. Am still trying to find out if there's a difference in performance of either brand.

Holy Molly! At those prices it makes Blaze/Velocity/Infinity/Gold look like chump change.

guys, I posted some results over at the chemrez vs senbel showdown thread. I didn't update it na lang coz no one seemed to have read it. My opinion is that using biodiesel at 1%, the cost is offset with the improved fuel economy. The savings will come in in terms of maintenance cost, because the engine belches much less smoke.
