Please be specific. Gas or Diesel?

I'll go with Tucson, mapa gas or diesel.

no one wins, you can't really compare both since one is a hatch and the other a cuv. maybe you could tell us a bit more about why you choose those 2 so we could help you out properly instead of a bunch of people just saying which one they want more. so what do you need in a car? like do you need some thing big or small or more room or just the right size or what you want in a car? performance, comfort, handling, power, great fc, luxury? do you need higher ground clearance? provide us some more info so we can actually help you out properly.

good questions. here goes. i have always been a car person never really into suvs. since college with 2door civic hatchback to 99 civic to 2010 altis. but now since i have a family and we are looking for another car my wife wants a SUV size. actually it is easier to compare the focus to the tucson because they have comparable powerful diesel engine(am i right?). But i still have no problems sticking with a sedan version (not hatch back focus). im just open to the idea thats all.

what is important to me is balance of fuel consumption and power. i do not really care for luxury BS. i am satisfied with our corolla altis 1.6G. it has a good fuel consumption and adequate power. but this time im looking for a little bit more power since this will be my car. i have never bought diesel engines in cars before but i think fuel costs make me think its the better thing to do. but what is the long term effect of a diesel engine? will it be busted in 10 years? and how about the pollution? will it get dirtier by the year and will cause a lot of engine problems? i think this is a whole new issue. anyway both brands have similar sized diesel engines so i think i will get similar torque and speed. i do welcome the bigger space but both brands are already bigger than the altis.

this now brings me to the quality of these 2 cars. which one is better quality? (ex toyota is basic/stardard while honda is a notch higher in feel, quality and premium) who make the longer lasting engine? (honda hardly breaksdown while toyota always has a problem) who has the better after sales service? who builds with better materials?

i do not know much about these brands. but i know that ford focus is something like car of the year in europe (dont know why). i would appreciate all your inputs and a lively discussion. thanks!

well since you put it that way i'd go with the tucson if you're going to buy the premium, hyundai right now has the best diesel engine available in the philippines for the price range. it's great all around car, it has power, good handling, space, great features, looks great, good fc. i can't really determine the build quality of both since i'm not that impressed by both cars quality, hyundai's quality is only ok for me but it could be better i don't know but i feel like their cars aren't that solid yet, but they are getting there. ford's quality, well it's a ford they're not really known for reliability. also there's a new focus coming out(or is it out already?) which will probably take a while for the philippine market to get so i'd rather wait for the new one.

Are those your only options or are you open to other vehicle suggestions?

Example: Mitsubishi Lancer EX GTA, Subaru Forester, Mitsubishi ASX GLS, Subaru Impreza 2.0L HB...

I don't have a very good idea about the ford focus TDCi but the fact that it is used for racing speaks of its inherent ability to be reliable and dependable.

But if you have the money, I bet you would be better off with the Tucson CRDi because of the higher clearance, resale value and value for money.

kung pwede lang ganon pare. i think i made a reasonable move in getting the altis over the civic. i did have some complains but sometimes you just have to turn a blind eye.

but for this time i want to make a decision that will be "perfect" - like when i got the 99 civic. it was impossible to go wrong with that one.

    TUCSON CRDi eVGT!premium! (destiny?haha)

We were scouting for a new vehicle which would become a replacement for out 2008 toyota fortuner which we sold 3months ago used for everyday driving around pampanga,we also have last year's MS 4x2 GLS , so we went of course to see the facelifted strada gls sport V and reserved for a quartz brown so we asked for discounts, free LTO,tint etc. and waited for 3 months so that the unit can be available, and when it came to the dealer this week, there was this buyer who also wanted also the brown strada (isa lang ang available na brown gls sport V na strada) and then suddenly this freaking car client said that sir mas mganda po yung yata deal niya (maybe because he didn't ask for discounts or whatsoever) so we got mad for waiting that long and expecting that car to become ours. T_T na dismaya talaga kami sa mitsu.......

So last 2 days ago,we went to see some car dealers here in pampanga, and so our first stop was honda pampanga because we only needed a car for city driving, of course we were interested in the honda city which was very practical, after that blah blah with the dealer we went to hyundai (we were actually never interested in hyundai's cars) to only see the all new elantra 1.8 A/T but as we walked and glanced on other hyundai vehicles we saw the very appealing sonata which was i think was very very cool but its 2.4 gas engine was really not that practical to buy, so anyways beside this elantra which we were looking upon was a tucson a sleek silver one so we checked it out of course and found out that the price was 1.688!no discounts free tint and LTO regist. only, its "MAHAL" hehe and it was a 2.0 diesel very practical in city driving as well as maybe out of towns or going to manila etc. the thing that caught our attention also was the panoramic sun roof which was also in the sonata premium i guess, so after that we went to toyota and asked if there would be any launch of all new vehicles in toyota and they said "there is still no notification for the new variants to come if ever" we were not really at all interested in the vios or altis IDK why maybe because of the boring interior.

So at the end of the day we went to hyundai to get the tucson for it is well priced, great specs and looks comparing to the asx which we visited last 3 days ago?(which was a bummer) at car world pamapanga,
the dealer in hyundai pamapanga said as we filled up the papers that this variant of tucson which was a diesel one and a premuim as well is very hard to find some people wait for 2-3 month's in getting this variant and you got this on the day you want it to have.

maybe the strada was never really for us we waited for 3 months and boom it was gone(naghintay para sa wala)
maybe God wanted us to have this "tucson" which was there in front of us no waiting at all
    it was there for us...
