Our 06 Hyundai Sonata GLS V6 is one year old today. I'm happy to say the year went by without any problems.
Some things that can be improved:
1. Improve the suspension. It's quite ok on most roads. But on particular rough roads like those with "cobbled pavement" the Sonata felt like it's bouncing along instead of driving over. When I make a hard turn on a 90 degree twisty at 35 mph, the Sonata goes over that "cobbly" part and actually skids and bounces into position as it exits that spot. There's only one spot in the whole city where the car does it. Unfortunately, it's on my shortcut to work. Granted, the speed limit on that twisty is 15 mph. But, everyone always tears into it fast.
2. The appearance of the cloth seat material can be improved. It looked a bit cheap. But, it's also very functional. My daughter spilled Coke on her side which dried up. All I did was take a wet sponge and wiped the Coke stain off readily.
3. No M/T. This car begs to be driven fast and it's got excellent brakes to back it up. It's virtually as quick as an A/T V6 Accord with the price tag of a 4-cylinder one. My wife's still delighted with its performance up to now and she drives it most of the time while I'm stuck with the Contour.
We're waiting to see how much it devalues because we may end up buying a second-hand 06 Sonata V6 to replace our Contour.
A supercharger will be in the works later (much later like within a year of being paid off). But, a window tint job and rear spoiler are first on my list of mods (whenever I can find the time).
