Ang problema lang kasi sa mga diesel e most 2nd hand diesel kaya nila binebenta e pangit na ang makina. High cost maintenance, smoke belching, laspag etc.

yup....most of the time kaya binebenta ng isang tao ang ride nya eh dahil luma na at malamang eh madalas ng masira....but not all....marami pang ibang reason....

just be patient in acquiring a 2nd hand ride....open your eyes into many options....di komo toyota or honda or even BMW eh siguradong maganda ang mabibili mo...it all depends on how the present owner takes care of his ride....kahit lumang Kia Pride pa yan kung talagang alaga nung owner eh mas malamang na mas value for money pa yan kesa sa isang honda civic na laspag na sa karerahan.....

kagaya nung nakuhang L300 van nung pinsan ko on my above post...luma na sya pero well taken care of....maayos ang tunog nung makina even at idle, very smooth umarangkada, wala halos usok original paint pa (yun nga lang medyo bland na yung kulay but that is a given already coz of its age), but it has no rust and just a minor scratch on lower body probably due to stray stones..at me record at resibo ng mga repairs at servicing......There is a newer one around 2000 model but when they test drive it, it sounds like a truck, maingay na at idle me mga small dents sa body, nahilamusan na raw yung paint pero me mga service records din...kaya lang makikita mo na di ganon kaingat yung owner, sa interior pa lang eh halata na pinaayos ng madalian yung mga sidings.....nilagyan ng armour all para magmukang bago etc....at dahil mas bagong model eh mas mahal pa sya.....

just like i said, be patience in looking for what you want and you will be rewarded....

Old school diesels are easy to fix as long as you look over a prospect unit carefully. Kaya nga ok when people give up on them (usally dahil wala gaano alam sa sasakyan). Pwede mo na baratin. Masaya siya dahil nawala na yung 'bulok' sa kanya, mas masaya ka naman dahil nabili mo ng mura and nacompute mo nang hindi naman ganun kalaki ang gagastusin to bring it up to spec.

i still remember our old van Lite Ace, ok naman sya kaso lalo 2matagal lalong pagastos ng pagastos. lalo ang problem is the overheat, aircon during summer season.. But once nakuha lahat nag problem its on a good condition at lagi OEM parts ang palit ko. Pro ok naman siya dami narin nagawa nag Lite Ace ko before yun lang talaga under power during overtake kailagan ko pa ibaba ang aircon just to gain my desire speed.

Comment lang about the Xwind, correct po kayo sir ksi matalbog ang AUV ito but the power is ok

Comement About L300 Exceed, i find this van very comfortable and noticecko kaya naman po siya sa akyatan ok naman sya in terms of safety yun lang pag fortal collision talo ka.

Good Luck sa pag pili nag Future Ride mo

    THANKS

Liteace / Townace / Vanette: These small vans with the engine under the driver's seat have poorer cooling capacity than full-sized vans wit engines in the same position (L300 style). They're prone to overheating, but the later Vanettes had upgraded radiators and an auxiliary fan to compensate.

They're still gas-guzzlers, though... carburated 2.0 engines aren't really suited for traffic!

L300 - never liked it... the Exceed, granted, is better, but is one of the few vehicles I've driven that handles worse than a Highlander-Crosswind.

Mazda E2000 - decent space (three rows in the back) but headroom is just so-so... but that Mazda 1.8 gasoline engine is wonderful. Once raced my cousin home (a loooooooooong time ago), and finally managed to overtake his *$#&&% Galant on the SLEX at about 160?... Don't recommend you do that, though, the shocks are too soft for that kind of driving, and the SLEX ain't exactly billiard table smooth nowadays. Oh... fuel consumption isn't as problematic (paradoxically) as with the Vanette, apparently, but parts aren't as easy to find as with Mitsus. They've had the E2000 for something like 15 years, and it's never been overhauled, but it's a Japanese-made (original LHD) version, not the more common Korean version.

I am very happy with your suggestions, comments and information. Think I will settle for a 10 year old Hilander SL for safety, economy and durability? What do you think guys? I found three sellers already all 1997 models with less than 100th km reading and pegged at around P200th.

Check them out carefully. The Hilander is okay, though some people don't like the fact that it's rolling on relatively simple 4-lug hubs (compared to the five lug and six lug hubs of other AUVs)... but as long as it's just city driving and you aren't a hardcore off-roader, it shouldn't be a problem... and the ride of the older Hilander is actually better than the heavier and stiffer sprung Crosswind.

Check carefully for radiator problems, power steering hose leaks and exhaust. Everything else should be okay or, if not, easily repairable. Isuzus are normally smoky at start-up and under full load, but if there are funny sounds from the engine itself (besides the regular rattle of diesels) walk away. 100k kms? Bata pa yan! I've got the same on our 02 Crosswind! Good luck!

strictly 200k na budget... di pwede lumagpas?

eto nakikita kong possible choices. (in my preferred order).

    VANs
    1. Liteace... underpowered, malakas sa gas (pero tolerable naman). pero if most of the time city driving, para na rin syang kotse, di alangan dalin kahit mag-isa ka lang. problem with overheating, madaling remedyuhan yan. kaya umakyat ng baguio kahit loaded. wag ka nga lang umasa na mabilis kang makakarating dun, pero kaya kung sa kaya. price ranges from 150k to 250k.

    2. L300 versa van... as in, maluwag sya. yung 2.5L diesel variant nya matipid tsaka mabilis din. yun nga lang, mausok lagi. matalbog sya... pero what do you expect? karamihan naman matalbog din eh. design nya since 80s pa pero hanggang ngayon okay pa rin naman. squeky nga lang yung pinto sa likod (karamihan). price range 150-200k.

    3. Vanette... di hamak na malakas sa gas. pero maganda itsura nya for its size, kahit mag-isa ka lang okay pa rin. problem with overheating, di ko sure kung madali lang ayusin. parts... di ko sure e, pero from my friend's experience, medyo mahirap maintain. price range from 180-220k yung nakikita ko e.

    4. hyundai grace, kia pregio... korean vans. wala ako input dito e. pero kung okay sayo korean brands, e di go ka. ingat lang sa grace, dami kasi ako nakikita hyundai grace before, pero biglang umonti ngayon. bakit kaya?

    AUVs
    1. hilander... malakas humatak plus a big factor yung tipid sa krudo. maingay nga lang at di ko type itsura nya. hehehe. pero its a plus na may power amenities na sya kaya oks na yun.

    2. FX... may FX ako ngayon. medyo masikip sya for 8 people and cargo. as for engine... stock 7k okay naman, medyo may kalakasan sa gas pero torquey na rin. makupad sya talaga if you compare it to a car, pero that's beside the point, hauler naman kasi kailangan mo e. meron 5k and 7k depende kung anong model. wag sana diesel kunin mo, pangit engine nun (2c = disposable). yung sken 4AGE na sinalpak ko, mas tumipid sa gas, mas may arangkada. :D
ingat lang sa mga ex-taxi... sasakit ulo mo sa kakapaayos.

    3. adventure... di pa ata kaya ng budget mo yung adventure eh.

Test drive mo muna bro. You won't go wrong with Hilander ang ganda ng takbo nyan parang sedan, malakas ang aircon, matibay ang pang-ilalim, malakas at matipid ang makina. Dagdag ka na lang ng konti sa budget para SLX na.

Van or AUVs?
