abcerase, both my Rav4 and CRV (then) are matics. Just my preference for daily rides. For the Rav4, have no porblems with the matic tranny at all.

The 2nd gen Rav4 is one of the lightest, if not the lightest 5dr SUV sold locally, kaya hindi hirap ang makina, tranny, suspensions, and brakes nito. So if you could find a 2nd hand na low mileage, kept stock, and driven normally by the owner, chances are in great condition pa mga makina and tranny nito, matic man o manual.

So it would probably just boil down to your personal driving preference to use a manual or matic. If you choose a manual, there is even the 1.8li 4x2 version gen2 Rav4 (sold 2003-2005), even lighter than the 2.0li version, so expect even better FC. It just has a few exterior differences such as no roof rail, no fender flairs, and thinner/taller tires, than the 2.0li 4x4 version.

If comfort is what you prefer then yes, an A/T Rav4 is perfect for you. But may I remind you that there are problems about A/T trannies esp. on second hand cars due to its wear-and-tear.

abcerase, yup should be ok pa naman ang '01-'02 models both for Rav4 or the CRV. Try to find one, hopefully below 100tkm pa. Make sure to test drive both rin, so you could have a feel of what fits you most. For both rin, parts were readily available at the casas or from known Banawe shops, else they could quickly order it from the local plants.
