June 9th, 2009 08:03 AM #1hello po mga sirs, we're looking at buying a quality used car by the end of the year and we're thinking if it's either a 1st gen CRV (around 390k) or 2nd gen Rav4 (500k-520k)...ano pong mas ok between them in terms of:
1. FC
2. Reliability (spare parts, etc)
3. Ride Comfort
thanks po talaga!

sa 3 things na hinahanap mo, pareho lang yun dalawa ang advantage lang ng RAV4 is mas bagong model...
FC-I was averaging 10+km/ltr on my Gen 1 CRV then
parts kahit saan meron na rin mabibilhan, hinde na totoo yun pag Toyota maraming mabibilhan, pantay na lahat ng car brand ngayon when it comes to spare parts..
ride comfort, wala naman problema sa Gen 1 CRV
yun sinasabi ni Tidus eh baka Gen 2 CRV, which is a gas guzzler and have a bad ride comfort but sa Gen 1 CRV walang ganun problema

June 10th, 2009 02:51 PM #7FC bet the 1st gen CRV and 2nd Gen Rav4 is just about the same. Unless you get the 1.8 manual Rav. Ride comfort goes to the CRV gen1. Reliability syempre goes to the newer model. Interior space wise the crv is more spacious.

June 11th, 2009 12:13 AM #8thanks guys for the inputs! yep, m getting a manual variant for my ride. hirap po ba pag 2nd hand na automatic for both CRV and RAV4? natatakot kc ako baka sakit sa ulo eh...unlike manual na madali ayusin...that's only for me po...but what do you think?

I previously owned a 1st gen CRV, and now own a 2nd gen Rav4. My inputs below:
1. FC - I give it a slight advantage towards the gen2 Rav4.
2. Reliability - I would say a tie.
parts cost - a slight advantage again for the gen2 Rav4.
3. ride comfort - smoother ride yung gen1 CRV
ride handling, cornering, acceleration, braking - definitely the gen2 Rav4.
others:
interior space - bigger space for the gen1 CRV.
Both are great and fun rides. Good luck in your SUV pick.
