yup... hyundai/kia crdi engines have been around since early 2000 and wala pang horror stories akong naririnig about it...

eh yung ibang d4d wala pang 1K km ang tinatakbo eh pumapalya na... what more after a few more years?

Sa gas engine.....get the Fortuner VVTI

Sa Diesel and if you're not planning on selling it after 2 or 3 years, Tucs CRDI na.

Pag mas priority mo seating capacity---fortuner vvti
Pag individuality or para maiba naman gusto mo-----tucs gas or crdi

i'm guessing higher depreciation will be on the Fortuner 4x2. in 1 year wala ng bibili ng more than 1M nyan for the very reason that our roads are flooded with Fortuners. but with the Tucson bordering at 1M, expected na less than 1M but not less than 700k bentahan regardless kung less than a year lang or more. CRDi pa din yan.

But I'd still choose Fortuner over Tucson. primary reason: image. secondary reason: bigger body.

it will boil down to this one...

    both are suv's
both have diesel & gas variants
    both have pros & cons
    both are relatively pricey
except for the seating capacity, i guess they're quite even.

as my prof once said in economics; "ceteris paribus" or if everything else is equal, then test drive them both and whichever wins your heart, yun na siguro di ba... just my 2 cents...

    and if this will help...

unlike the fortuner, the tucson (i.e. same looks but maybe with different specs) is offered and accepted in the american market which is somehow an indication of its value as a no non-sense vehicle..

Parang hinde fair price-wise, size-wise and badge-wise. You'll get more out of the 2.7 VVTi Fortuner than any Tucson models.

TUCSON or FORTUNER ????
