but with a baby in the near future... might i recommend... a van.
nannies, be they relatives or total strangers, kitchen sinks, change of clothes, and strollers... aren't small items.

i got rid of my van, when the kids didn't need nannies anymore.
    i then bought an innova.
A van would be the ideal family oriented vehicle, but I think he has limited parking space? And if his budget is also limited to just getting one vehicle, the van would be cumbersome to drive by his lonesome -- if he is all alone -- he will be like a rattle. The innova or Fort strikes the bettter balance for when he's driving alone, or when it's packed with the family, IMO.

And if you will bring "yayas", it can sit everyone more or less comfortably. The innova with it's 2.8 diesel engine (if you're looking at the diesel, that is), is no slouch either. It actually has more zip than the Fort's 2.4. Good luck.
I am looking at the diesel model definitely. I think both models have enough power under the hood for my needs. I've only driven the Fortuner though so I can't really have a good comparison on how the Innova will feel. I've gotta say though, after years and years of driving the old beat up Revo we have, driving the Fortuner my friend has was like night and day.

Thanks for the input sir. Right now the only thing I am worrying about is fuel efficiency. Maybe you guys might have an idea?

The toyota branch in our hometown is having a promo 12k all in for Fortuner and 28k all in for Innova. The wife and I are gonna head there this saturday to inquire so the more info you guys can provide me, the better :D

    Toyota Innova G AT = 1.521M
    Toyota Fortuner G AT = 1.697M

    Get the Fortuner.

Don't get the ALL IN promos.. malaki interest nyan.. compute for the total cash out after the loan.

I haven't really thought of that. Driving a van alone does seem cumbersome. The reason why I am looking at the Innova and the Fortuner is because the Toyota branch in our home town is having a promo

    12k all in for Fortuner
    28k all in for Innova

Before the promo even came up I was already leaning towards these two models. The promo only solidified my choice, just need to pick between the two.

Sorry I'm not well versed when it comes to promos like these. Better na mag down ako ng malaki compared to the all in promos if tama intindi ko sa sinabi mo sir?

Some people will pay the almost 200k premium of the Fortuner over the Innova. For the practical folks, it's a no brainer that they will go for the Innova.

As for the ALL-IN promos, it's better to compute for the total cashout across 5 years and compare it against a regular car loan.

yes, get a loan sa bank, the bigger the downpayment is always better, get a quote from 3 banks for cheaper interest rates, better kung free ang chattel mortgage and 1st year insurance (but make sure hindi naka tie up for the rest of the loan ang insurance).

then shop around 3 dealership for the best quote (tell them for cash purchase - bank loans are treated as cash purchase sa dealer).. compare the discounts and the freebies, sa dealer usually free LTO registration lang pag cash purchase + discounts + freebies..

i was driving the van by my lonesome, for years.
it's no big deal at all. i didn't feel lonesome nor cumbersome nor rattled.

my opinion has always been, "if you have nowhere to park it in, don't buy it".

    innova versus fort.
the fort has arrive, albeit more difficult to climb into. the innova is practical and easier to get in, if that issue is important to the users.

Yes, sir, IT refers to the vehicles.

For fuel efficiency, I've had the chance to drive both alternately last year, for 3 consecutive months, and the innova came out a bit better in terms of being more frugal with the diesel. 2.8 vs 2.4 engine, but the innova was 1-2 kms ahead in terms of fuel mileage. If I'd get 11 km/liter on the fort, I'd get 12 to 13kms / liter with the innova on the same route, with me and only me as driver. Guess the lighter body of the innova and the bigger engine made it the better match for fuel efficiency compared for the fort. Hope that helps.

A lot of confusing words haha pero i googled some and I got a clear picture of what you are trying to say sir. Basically, the all in promo is a trap. I may only be settling a low downpayment pero talo ako in the long run if i'm reading you right sir.

Also, with regards sa loan sa bank. Are you saying, mag downpayment ako as high as I can and pay the rest with a car loan?
