    Planning to replace my 2013 Almera. My choices are 2017 Honda City E CVT (39K mileage) or 2017 Suzuki Ciaz GL AT (35K mileage). Car is pangsundo and hatid lang sa school, grocery and mall. Which is more reliable sa dalawa and maraming parts? Thank you.

    go for Honda City. mas maraming piyesa makikita if need replacement spares.

    City no question but... get service history about CVT fluid replacement. Honda requires every 2 years or 40,000kms if I recall correctly the service interval. Ginawa ba nila at all or hindi pa? pag never, walk away and look for another seller of Honda City. At least, that's a red flag for me immediately.

    Pag ginawa nila once, question is when and where ginawa. If ikaw ba aabutan ng CVT Fluid replacement service interval. Then just ready for that maintenance item cost din.

    Is it the same sa ATF? I asked the owner about it. Hindi niya daw alam, basta casa maintained and if may pinapachange daw dun, pinapagwa niya. Salamat.

    No. If ATF ang nakasulat sa shop kung san niya pinagawa, iwan mo na sa kanya susi and hanap ka na iba.

    CVTF / CVT Fluid talaga dapat ang ikarga sa experience ko. And sa Honda, kung "casa maintained" yan, signficant cost yan na hindi pwedeng pikit mata oo ka lang. Maaalala mo yan kung first sabihin sa iyo ng casa papalitan. Every 2 years interval, kung hindi ako nagkakamali, ang cost dun sa 2008 Honda City i-Dsi namin dati 10k-12k php ata yung cost to replace (labor and material) sa Honda Q Ave. Di ko na maalala exact. Ginagawa ko sa amin every 3 years approx instead of 2 kasi 10000 kms per year lang takbo ko nuon sa City. Kung ayaw mo ba naman as car owner, wala naman magagawa casa, basta decision mo na as owner kung may mangyari as a result ng di pagsunud sa service advice nila diba?

    So kung talaga casa maintained yung Honda City niya, ilabas niya yung service record na invoice/receipt na may breakdown nung service item na yun. Sigurado andun dapat yan, lalo kung sa Honda Casa siya nagpapagawa. Kung sa gas station lang, wala yan sigurado ginawa pa.

    Di mo masasabi kung okay "sa ngayon" ang takbo pag test drive mo. Ang CVT pag nasira, palit buo usually, hindi pwede part lang ng nasira.

    Pero sa experience ko mga "sumpung" nung CVT ko, is may "missing" gear pag sa manual mode makikita mo na nagskip siya ng gear kasi hindi na siya makapasok sa "ratio" ng simulated gear na yun. Paminsan habang umaarangkada ka may "Dead zone" na parang nawala sa "kagat" yung transmission and nagfree spin lang makina mo na di umaabot power sa gulong then kakagat ulit. Itong sa akin na dalawang mapapansin mo, lumabas naman dahil nung wala ako sa bahay na dead battery tinanggal battery bago pinalitan. Ito yung sinasabi nila na bawal mag "reset" yung computer box pag nagpalit ng battery ng kotse. Pumupunta pa ako sa Honda Casa mismo para ibalik sa tama yung computer code via "update" or restore to default nila. 400php yung charge sa akin ng Q Ave sa last ko pinagawa. Pero kung pinabayaan din yun at physically nadamage na CVT, wala na magagawa Honda kahit reset pa nila. Ayaw nila galawin yan and sasabihin na lang nila sa iyo palitan na buong assembly.

    Sa CVT dapat tama talaga yung oil/fluids na ginagamit. Kaya nung time nung City namin, sa Honda ko lang pinapagawa kasi takot ako mali gawin ng technician sa labas or lokohin ako kung anu ipapalit.

    Maraming salamat sa info sir. I am not a car guy and baka ito ang una ko na Honda. Malaking tulong itong explanation niyo. Lalo na yung reminder ng nagawa kung totoo ngang casa. Parang may nabasa ako dito sa Tsikot na every two years ata palit ng CVT fluid. Ang iba every 30,000. Pag nag Google ka naman sabi 60,000.

    Reason why 2years or 30k kms is because Car companies consider our traffic condition in the metro as heavy use/extreme, not normal condition. But, your mileage may vary kasi assumption nga naman yan ng car company as to what the actual condition your vehicle is being subjected to.

    Nissan CVT has it in their manuals na every 40k kms, pero nagpapalit na ako at 30k kms kasi pansin ko medyo nagiba konti takbo. So I'd rather be safe than sorry kasi those tend to grenade themselves dahil Jatco transmission naman sila.

    compare ground clearance to your almera. these newer sedans are ridiculously low which make them impractical

    If it comes to utility, please correct me if I am wrong but...

    The Almera the TS owns currently, compared to the two choices mentioned, has the better legroom/headroom and boot storage space (especially for large luggage).

    I do not remember if the City or Ciaz 2017 Model Years had some flexibility via ULT seats that fold down to connect to the boot to increase carry capacity, especially for longer loads. The Ciaz and City also didn't have rear vents (yet) in this model year if I am not mistaken, but that is the reverse now with current generation of same class of vehicles for their brands locally. Current Almera has lost the rear vents if I'm not mistaken and has lost (some) headroom and rear boot space because of the exterior form/silhoutte they were going after.

    The City would have the lower ground clearance, hadn't physically checked out the Ciaz back then so don't really have actual frame of reference.
