October 15th, 2009 12:45 PM #1Hello! First time ko kasi magkakakotse, so I really really need help.
Kasi ganto yan, my mom told me na it's better to buy a second-hand car sa ngayon kasi I'm not yet that experienced pa daw sa driving. Baka ibangga ko lang or magkadamage, sayang lang daw if brand new. Sabi naman sakin nung friends ko, kahit naman daw mabangga or magkadamage and brand new may insurance naman yun. And besides, pag brand new, parang may certain span of time na okay lang kahit walang maintenance. Is it true? Makakatipid ba talaga ako kung brand new nalang bbilhin ko kahit first time ko and baka may posibilidad na clumsy pa ako sa kalye? Please help talaga, I really need to decide before November.
Tsaka pag brand new ba, ano bang mga expenses after? Lisenced driver na ako, so I don't have problems with my lisence anymore. Yung rehistro ng bagong sasakyan? Magkano ba yun and for how long sya?
Mas may advantage ba talaga kung brand new bibilhin ko as opposed to second hand?
THANKS!

I would suggest a 2nd hand car of around 2 to 3 years old. It would save you some money and yet it is new enough to give you years of use with minimal problems in terms of wear & tear.
Cars that you might want to checkout:
-Corolla Altis
-Nissan Sentra
-Honda Civic

+1. And I suggest get an a/t so you could focus more on your steering wheel.

October 15th, 2009 01:03 PM #4Yep Im really planning a/t kasi i'm still confused with m/t. I took a course at a driving school, and m/t was such a pain in the arse. Siguro someday I will learn to drive m/t too. So you're suggesting I get a second-hand din? Di kaya ako lalo magkaproblema nun sa gastos? Thanks! Sorry for my kakulitan..first time eh!

kung ako, ill say go for 2nd hand (same with GH). maganda rin kasi matuto sa oto kesa aasa lang lagi sa casa for repairs.
also mas ok kung manual kasi if you know manual, for sure kaya mo a/t.
my 2 cents

go for the 2nd hand, just as long as it will not go beyond 5 years old.
in terms of accidents, repairs, etc, i would go for a 2nd hand rather brand new kasi manghihinayang ako sa materials used. kung magiging bump car lang siya, sayang naman. might as well maximize the old materials from a 2nd hand car tapos kung nabangga, oks lang kasi it might be also due for replacement.
sa insurance naman, covered nga. pero may participation fee ka pa rin. tska pagdating sa PMS, you still have to shell out minimal amount of cash. so may expenses ka pa rin. mas malaki nga lang maintenance cost ng 2nd hand, pero dahil nakatipid ka kasi ang value nito is lower compared to a brand new, na-ccompensate yung maintenance cost mo.
by the way, ipaparegister mo pa rin yung 2nd hand vehicle mo ha. hindi lang brand new ang nireregister. renewal lang ang 2nd hand, pero may bayad din yun.
finally found a reliable bt obd2 thanks to travajante for referring kingbolen. then i modded so it...
