SiR vs. SUV

heck, why Honda always insist that they cars are prestigious porket ba hindi ginagawang taxi ,hotel service car o napaplakahan ng dilaw e prestigious na?

In relation to this, there are some Honda cars that are used as company service cars, some even meant to be used by their sales agents.

For one, my current ESi is still registered under the original owner – a freight company.

The car currently clocks 408,000 in the odometer and runs on its second engine.

Hmm... why second engine already? What happened to the first one? I know of a good number of Mitsubishis, Nissans, Toyotas and Isuzus that run that same mileage on the same engine they got off the assembly line and i think the ESi engine should accomplish the same feat under proper care just as well. The Fast Transit Lancers i used to ride when i'm in Cebu were examples of 4-5 year old cars with already more than 300,000kms on the odo before.

here in AU, i can see more mazda3,lancer cj, corolla,camry, holden, ford fiesta, etc ay ginagamit sa mga company fleet cars, ads, taxis, police car, etc etc..pero not Honda.....

why is that?..mahal maintenance?..reliability maybe?..overpriced?...

The funny thing is, Vin Diesel didn't know how to drive stick shift. He was on the news and had to drag race a news caster, but couldn't drive stick shift. It was to promote the F&F1 movie and had to practice. The practice wasn't enough and stalled the NSX on the start. Its like Stallone on Expendables driving an automatic (built by West Coast Customs), but a stick shift for the stunt driver and shifting during in- car camera shots.

Vin Diesel couldn't even back up his own SUV !

When he was interviewed by the TMZ, he asked for help on whether how should he back up from the big parking space his SUV is parked in!

alam ko bro. bawal talaga ata, nasa terms and condition daw na bawal for franchise when you purchase a honda automobile, may agreement daw sa mga casa ng honda na bawal gawin taxi or for franchise, . yun ang sabi....not quite sure dunno' wala pa namang nakakabili ng brandnew Honda sa angkan namin e, at siguro kase nga kase nga they are protecting that "prestige" image

at sabi rin ng prof. ko sa marketing subject niya about nga dyan sa marketing ng honda is know for prestige, why? "because honda believe that people workhard just to buy a honda and they will not let it happen to see people who bought a honda to see a same car as a taxi unit/public transport, it's a disgrace." sabi ko naman "They're probably just expensive to purchase as taxies" hehehe!!!!

thanks for clarifying bro, oo nga in other countries, especially in the middle east, yung FD ginagawang taxi roon, even sa Michigan, meron doon honda odyssey as a taxi cab.

I'm not even sure if the current engine is really the second one, since I got the car already running on D15B.

The swap was probably due to epic Civic EG/EK overheats, since it didn't have the thermostat (just as I thought).

Wahlen Pangilinan if you have a plan to have a set up like this super bargain tong auto na to. kung nakakaintindi ka sa oto eh hindi kakasya 390t mo sa pag set up ng ganito, sounds palang baka kulang na 390t mo for this complete set up.

Bakit super overprice?.... Ibig sabihin nag appreciate pa yung value nung EG di man lang nag depreciate after 18+ years.. Kahit ano pa burloloy ilagay sa kotse di naman nakakadagdag ng resale value, kung meron man di naman siguro ganyan kataas..

I think the demand for this unit dictates the overvalued resale for such.

With regards to the SiR threads I am an admirer of this unit especially if it's all stock and well taken cared of, I agree with the others that it's the attitude of the driver behind the wheel that we don't like.

It's because of the rareness papi.

It was a relatively limited production vehicle, there is still undoubtedly a demand for it from certain quarters because it is one of the cheapest and widely supported out-of-the-box "performance" vehicles, and there are people who are trying to cash in on it by selling theirs at high prices. Heck, if i had one in my garage and knowing there are kids out there who want to have one, i'd be stupid not wanting to sell it at the highest price right?

Aside from the SiR, the only other locally sold vehicle that i can think of which kept an insane resale value was the Land Cruiser 80 and 100. Same dynamics of limited units sold, it caters to a specific market, and it was sold in the mid to late 1990s before car prices jumped up so there is also some inflation factor here.
