If mabagal na ang acceleration mo from 0-60 out of tune na yung FM ng tatay mo. Hindi mura ang maintenance ng FM so need to put this into account.

Mabagal lang compared to compacts sedans sir that ive used (2 lancers and 2 civics). I think for an SUV its just right. Nagbreakdown na yung turbo namin dati. So i know how slow it would be without it functioning properly. Aside from the turbo ang naging problema lang namin yung aircon. Actually hanggang ngayon problema pa rin yung aircon. Di siguro magaling yung nagseservice sa amin.
Add ko lang. Maganda rin yung paint quality ng Pajero. Di pa rin kupas after all these years. Kulay talong yung amin. Masmalakas dating ng pajero sakin compared to fortuner and montero.

Unlike old commonrail diesels, there aren't failing ultra expensive high pressure injectors to worry about. Kayang ayusin kahit nung talyer sa kanto. Suspension parts and tires may be quite expensive, but they last really long. The only thing expensive that might prematurely fail is the turbo. But even then, surplus turbos aren't really that expensive, especially for a popular engine like this.

You have one so you would know... So why is it other people are saying na mura and practical ang FM na second hand for a daily driver? Oil filter pa lang na OEM you're already spending more than half of what a full oil change for a Vios, Corolla or Jazz would cost. I've been there and done that with a lot of second hand cars (Jap, American and EU) and i would only recommend it if you're going to have it as a secondary car at first as you will need time and effort to get it running in top shape (in most cases, unless you get one from an owner who really paid attention to maintenance... but usually those guys rarely sell their units if you ask me). If the primary reason for buying a car is practicality and frugality for the daily grind, get latest model compact or sub-compact if possible.![]()
How much now ang surplus turbo ng 4M40?
If the TS will get the FM, double check lang. Kung A/T thread, mga 9 to 10k ang isa, with the exception of Cooper tires

If in tip top condition and properly tuned ang makina ng FM mo yung acceleration niya ay comparable sa sedan. Hindi ka maiiwanan basta basta.
I think nabigay na yung pros and cons sa pinipiling sasakyan so decision nalang.
Out of curiosity ginoogle ko gano katagal 0-100 sprint ng pajero. Eh nasa 20 seconds pala. The lancer only takes 11.6 seconds 0-100 so i guess reasonable naman why i feel that it is sluggish. Ang mga naging cars ko kasi are all compacts which take less than 12secs to for 0-100.
Anyways back to topic. Pajero if you need the space and the novelty of owning one. Altis/civic if otherwise. The logical choice would be the compact cars.

Just swing-in a li'l bit more kung hindi negotiable.
....Or, wildcard choice, look for any Toyota Innova 2.5 D-4D around around that price range na you mention chief kung diesel-fed ang unang choice mo chief.
Cheers!
Go for the field master. Di ka magsisisi. I recently bought my FM 98 model 4x4 manual at 370k. Kulay puti at ang porma tingnan. Classic talaga.
Hanap ka lng ng mababang odo at well maintained. Madami din spares available.
Your FC depends on how you use your car. Never exceed 2,800 rpm on highway. From Manila to Baguio FC ko is 9km/ltr. Not bad for a big car.
