Nearly the same price, the Nissan is a sub-compact crossover but is a hybrid; released last year. Meanwhile, the Ford is a newly-released compact crossover that is gas-powered but still oozes with tech.

Do you go for the smaller, mid-variant hybrid made in SEA or get oodles of space and tech with a petrol-powered car made in China?

i still don't like the concept of the kicks. combined complexity of both electric and gasoline in one car too many parts and systems that could go wrong. that a/c fiasco is just the beginning...

territory. so many things to not like: the badge, china, turbo, GDI, etc.

if i needed to buy a vehicle today to carry 4 or 5 people i'd probably get a Corolla. i own a crossover but i now think they're stupid.

Kicks owner here since October. Please allow me to share my personal thoughts.

I've seen quite a few AC failure complaints from our FB group. But so far, wala pa naman ako na-experience. I heard Nissan is now addressing this by issuing service recalls.

Yes, I totally agree that the Kicks lacks standard features compared to Ford Territory. Kahit yung VL na TOTL variant, pales in comparison. Sa tingin ko, Nissan intentionally stripped the vehicle of features to lower the price. And perhaps its pricing strategy is deliberate to undercut its closest hybrid rival, the Corolla Cross.

I paid P1.39M for my VE variant, almost bare if you ask me. Cloth seats, no fog lamps, no blindspot warning, no reverse camera (only sensors). Good thing it has 7 airbags and an Apple/Android-ready headunit. But note that these options come standard on the higher variant for P200k more.

Moreover, the interior space is a little lacking. 4 adults could fit comfortably, but 5 is pushing it. The cargo could fit 2 large suitcases with little room left.

When it comes to reliability, as with any other vehicle, only time will tell. I had more unpleasant experiences with Ford than Nissan.

Overall IMHO, the amount I paid for the e-power technology is worth it. The driving experience is enjoyable, with 100% confidence in every acceleration without worrying about fuel consumption. But that's just me.

Sa Kicks ako kung maayos nila ang AC issue. Kung iyon lang 2 pagpipilian. Kung may iba pa sa same budget, malamang sa Corolla Cross ako.

I personally would go with the Kicks.

Coding Exemption is a big plus, then you get the fuel savings.

Only thing I hate about the Kicks is I find it to lack on a lot of features (e.g. blind spot monitoring etc) and that the current model is very old (released as early as 2016 in Brazil. e-power version we have was released in Thailand in 2020)

2nd. I can't imagine buying a car in 2023 that's not an EV or a Hybrid (mild hybrids not included)
