Hi, new member here. I need suggestions on which used car to get. We need a car but can't provide for a brand new one so we decided to get a second hand car. Sa tunog ng makina, namama-alam na yata yung LEC ko e.

We have yet to decide between the 2006 Hyundai getz 1.1L engine and the 2006 hatchback chevrolet aveo, 1.5L . The getz is around 45k cheaper than the aveo, they both use petrol.

I have tested both cars and madali naman sila i drive and smooth naman, both under 35k mileage. But yung durability and di ako sure.

    Thanks

You're safer with Getz since it's a Hyundai. Very good quality and super cheap parts too.

Thanks. Nagandahan ako sa interior ng Aveo, but if the parts avilability will be a problem then di bale na lang.

Pahabol question, is it true na mas matibay ang Aveo compared to getz?

    getz po sir
aveo is fine pero for me kung mamomoblema lang ako anything na related sa casa like parts or service eh wag na lang
i believe affordable parts ng hyundai at availability is fine compared to chevs.
cheaper pa getz as you said

Go for the Getz, these days, Hyundai is going from strength to strength while GM is on the brink of bankruptcy. Pano na parts ng Aveo pag nawala ang GM?

    para sken aveo hb,
coz' it's GM and american brand
mas mganda ung quality, high standard compared to getz which is face-out n! mababa na resale value, pwede mo pang pormahan,
with the parts naman mahal nga pero genuine naman and with warranty p.
    astig p logo nila!
and they have features na wala sa getz.

The Chevrolet Aveo is a Daewoo, rebadged as a Chevrolet.

    Remember Daewoo?

    Remember what happened to Daewoo?

And do you know why Daewoo went belly-up?

The Hyundai Getz is not as solid as a Japanese subcompact, but it's leagues ahead of the Aveo... with a four-star Euro-NCAP crash rating versus the Chevrolet Aveo's one-star (I'd bet an L300 could score higher... :hysterical: ). That alone tells you a lot about the relative sturdiness of the body shells of the two cars. Euro-NCAP not only rates airbag effectiveness, but notes the structural integrity and deformation of crash structures in its testing.

And, add to that... Daewoo's terrible ECU programming, poor fuel economy (even in comparison to the other Koreans, which aren't quite as efficient as the best Japanese) and outdated body and engine technology...

And as for resale value... honestly... do Daewoos even have resale value?

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

The Getz is the better option.

Yes they do! Around 20 pesos per kilo. hehe

But seriously, get the getz, it's the better car.

Thanks for the feedback guys. really appreciate it. Yung wife ko kasi mas nagagandahan sa interior at porma ng Aveo, but I'll show her this thread.

pardon, but... have you considered the possibility that your old car just needs some repair? it might not be as bad as you may imagine. it'll probably be cheaper than buying a new second hand car, too. and remember, there's always a reason why the previous owner sold the used car you are considering.

If you're choosing between Getz or Aveo, go for the Hyundai.

Totoo na the Aveo (even the Optra) is a rebadged Daewoo
(since GM owns Daewoo)... although may Aveo at Optra din sa US...

    Why Getz?
Mas proven ang reliability nito on our roads.

Pero if you want to consider other cars,
maybe you could vouch for a "price-in-range" used Vios or City
(mabenta yang mga yan ngayon naglabasan na kasi mga 2009 models eh)

Thanks talaga sa mga suggestions guys. I got a 1.3 2005 getz, buti naghanap-hanap pako. 13.5k odo, smells and looks new, leather seats saka spoiler din. paid a little under 300k.

Need suggestions, which second hand car to get
