the liteace is a 8 seater van and has a 1.5 liter gas engine. vannette however has a 2.0 liter gas and is a 10 seater van. model years start for both from 1989 till 1998. prices maybe below the 300k mark. In features the vannette all had power feature (power locks, windows and steering) while the liteace only had this on its final years of productuion 1996-1998. The best models would be the newer once's

    Lite Ace
    - very spacious for passengers and/or cargo
    - needs twice the power
    - bouncy ride
    - power steering only on the facelifted version (after GXL)

    Vanette
    - power features
    - overheating problems

The Mazda E2000 Power Van might be another choice you could consider.

madami...and most common difference is the 1.5efi and 2c, 2c-t on the liteace, ld20 on the vanette...mine kasi is a JDM toyota liteace fxv 4wd and electronically-controlled 2c-t.

un nga, on my liteace, i find it smaller in over-all dimension than the vanette and my former delica.but surprisingly, the liteace has a more spacious feel in the back than my delica and a bit cramped elbow room in the front.

on local choice, i will choose a well maintained last model vanette..so as on a jdm convert, i will still choose a vanette(largo)..

we had a vanette before.. i can only remember some cons eheheh

    1. overheating
    2. cramped seating (3 rows kasi siya sa likod)
    3. bouncy rear (nakakasuka sa highway) i think sa newer models ok na..
    4. V8 like consumption
    5. overheating..did i just say it again?

i can remember my friends liteace bouncy ride in front

the overheating problem is very common sa old engines ng vanette. Consider the addition of extra blower/fan on the radiator.

Ever considered the L300van (not the FB)? Mas roomier and have a diesel option...with plenty of cheap parts. Hindi naman super haba ang L300 compared to a vanette or liteace. Meron din newer model na L300 na mas cute ang itsura (parang model 2000 na yata un).

I think you're talking about the L300 Exceed. It's a smaller version of the L300 Versa Van, with similar seating to the Mazda E2000 Power Van (2+3+3+2 jump seats). This has a 2-liter 16-valve carb gas engine. The Delica followed this one. It's just a longer version with 4 rows, extended bumper, and a 2.5-liter diesel engine. By the way, both of these are not Subic imports.

If you ask me, an L300 diesel should be a more practical buy. It has the torque when you need to carry a lot of persons and cargo, but returning respectable fuel figures compared to the Lite Ace and Vanette. The only problem I can see here is the column-mounted shifter.

Given the two choices: Vanette (we owned both types of vans before)

    - The overheating can be cured by adding an additional aux fan and relocating the condenser; and getting the radiator cleaned (wash the fins) along with the regular tune-up.
    - More power then the LiteAce (paakyat lang ng flyover sa Metro Manila with a full load and a/c hirap na )
    - More space then the LiteAce (when you remove the 2nd row seating)
    - Fuel consumption wouldnt be that much different from a LiteAce IMO, esp on long trips as the LiteAce is underpowered so you have to push the pedal more.
    - A/C is much better then the LiteAce.

The Liteace has a more compact body and parts will be also easily available and probably cheaper; Vanette parts are still available at auto supplies and Nissan shops too.

Regardless of what van you choose, both will be needing repairs most likely. Price range of both for a 1995-1997 model will be at 200-250K. What's your budget? Try also looking at an old school L300 diesel van... this would be more practical then the two Other options which i would consider are a the old Isuzu Highlander and Toyota Tamaraw FX or Revo (kung kaya ng budget)...

RHD-LHD conversion? Forget it! Of course, there are some nice converted Delicas, but the safety factor, the wrong-way headlights and doors, and the 50-50 chance of getting a poor conversion aren't worth it, IMHO.

Like wildthing and vinj said, an extra accessory fan on the radiator will cure the OLD Vanette heat problems. The last edition Vanette (and arguably the best) had no heat problems whatsoever.

We had the Grand Saloon Vanette, the two-tone Blue-Silver edition with stripes. Try to find one that still has the stripes, as this means they may not have had accident damage. The dual-zone AC is very good, the AC ventilated drinks cooler is a nice way to keep softdrink cans frosty. The first row in the back is swiveling captain's chairs... VERY NICE, while the other two rows are kind of cramped.

I don't know if the suspension is different from the old Vanette, but it was comfortable, at least.

Vinj is right, the second row is useless, take it out, and the Vanette will seat seven people very very comfortably.

Oh, the only problem is it's a terrible gas guzzler in traffic.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

I have not driven a Vanette, only rode in one.

But I have driven a Liteace, and it is really underpowered.
