Don’t expect too much in terms of performance among these PPVs. A decent performing diesel would be the Koreans - Santa Fe or Sorento. Maybe a Land Cruiser or a Pajero BK will do fine. If you want a quick and fast diesel, check out the Euro SUVs - Touareg or X5 or Q7 or GLE.

I hate the look of the MUX's dashboard... especially yung controls ng A/C
MUX kasi yung car nung contact driver ko sa Phuket and yung dashboard nya palagi kong napapansin...

September 15th, 2020 01:04 PM #17I'm 5'11". Tried sitting at the third row of the Fortuner, both generations. It is not comfortable for my knees and it is more bouncy so I get more motion sickness in the Fortuner rather than in the Montero. I can honestly only drive the Fortuner and never be a passenger. For the Montero, I can sit in the 2nd row but 3rd row is still a no-go for me. It is way more cramped (narrow side to side) in the Montero 3rd row. I still can't believe we fit 9 adults with luggage before in that car (packed light with friends for a 3 day trip up north). Never did it again.
I have no experience with a MUX but we have a Dmax 1.9 Cab and Chassis with the FB style rear. Not a fan of the dash design of the DMAX/MUX but it was a utility purchase anyway. No idea how comfortable the rear is or how bouncy it is compared to the Fortuner or Montero. It has more legroom per my recollection when I visited the showroom during servicing of the DMAX before.
EDIT: For TS, performance wise, the Fortuner 2.4 is adequate, brother owns a Fortuner current gen, can't remember if 2017 (the one that still had drums in the rear before they upgraded it the next year). Interior design is "better" if you ask me compared to the MUX generation you are asking about. The newer, still to be released in the Phils new MUX, has a way more improved interior. Going manual mode to control the timing of upshifts or downshifts, there is a definite "delay" of maybe about 1 sec, maybe a little more than 1 (but surely not 2 seconds) before it kicks into your desired gear. But if you know the timing, then you just "shift it" slightly earlier to up/downshift for your maneuver (overtaking, taking a turn/slope).
Still hate the brake tuning of the Fortuner as it lurches/leans forward when braking. Not sure if the change to disc front and rear has removed this imbalance in brake tuning. But this s one of the things I really hated about the previous gen and current gen that I have been able to drive. When you just gently tap the brake pedal, it doesn't bite well. Then as you depress it a little more, there seems to be a sudden hard clamp. There is no gradual increase, it is a simple grabbing of the front brakes with the rear not applying the same amount of force so the car leans forward and "down" due to it.
Lastly, the seats of my brother's Fortuner G specifically. The foam is definitely thicker than our family's previous gen 2011 Montero. Yet it is more uncomfortable to sit in. And this is not just my opinion but also my mother's. She prefers the cushioning in the seats of the Montero too. Not sure what was going on with that but I just hazard a guess it is the typical Toyota penny pinching where, no matter what they do, people will buy it anyway. I own a Nissan sedan which doesn't have the Zero-G foam. That has same thickness to Fortuner's seats (approx) and the foam cushioning/sitting in that car just also feels better. So I think it has to do with Fortuner's type of foam used in the seats specifically. I just find it offputting.

Yes. Big difference. Fort 2.8 feels like the MUX - more power in the entire rev range and power whenever you need it.
If the price diff in the 2ndhand market is 200k or less pwede na go straight to the 4x4.
Fort 2.4 can overtake on a full load in provincial loads if you're only going from 40-80 kph. Pero it feels sakto lang and kailangan ng right planning. Vs the 2.8 Fort na kayang kaya without hesitation.
