Toyota brand is the safe choice. Di dahil mura, there are cheaper cars out there (read Chinese). Toyota is backed by it's reliability, aftermarket accessories, spare parts & reputation. Di rin over rated since they have too many models to choose from.
Hindi narin cheap ang toyota unlike big car brands pansinin niyo my +5-10% price diff within same segment. Mukhang name nalang binibili ng masa ngayon.
there's three of us here who vote the nissan almera as an under-rated car!

Sales figures.
For me, back in the 1990s one of the underrated brands was Nissan. The Ford Lynx was also a underrated car per discussions on tsikot many years back. Now, cars have gotten oh-so-good already so it's really a matter of what the consumer wants. In our case, in the last few years our car ownership has shifted to mostly Toyotas because they're easy to maintain and no-brainers to own; just service them and they're good up to well over 100,000kms and 6-7 years. This is such because we don't have much time to spend on maintaining cars as much as before due to busy schedules.
Korean build quality is still not up to par with Japanese. Don't generalize and say Hyundai and Kia's are underrated. Ask those who have had headaches because their brand new Korean cars had issues after less than a year.
Were talking about underrated cars here. How come may Altis? If unferrated is based on sales figures, then Altis shouldn't be here because they're everywhere.
Hindi naman popular yung Altis 1.6E na model diba? Hehehe...But i agree with what jut is pointing out on the price... it's just a few Ks about the TOTL Vios and City.
On the Almera, I just can't get over the rear design... too late the hero for NMPI as usual (it came out and got deluged by the new Vios and City).

i think under-rated means, "it's better than it is perceived to be by the buying public, that perception being based on relative sales figures".
i mean, it's not a popular buy because buyers think it is not a good car, when actually, it is a good car... perhaps even better than the popular buys.
and beauty should not be part of the equation.

How about someone starting a thread on the most over rated cars? Kaya lang baka may mag away pa....
One purpose of this thread is for those buying used cars to get the most out of their money.
Nissan cars are underrated. It's a very practical car and can hold it's own against the best. It's a good car brand.
Nissan wont be considered as the big 3 in japan if they are producing junk cars.
Dito lang ata saatin pangit ang image ng nissan..

and we can probably trace that to the first sentra/sunny cars they brought in, in 1988 or 1989.. bad suspension, etc, true or otherwise..
even the success of the second and third iterations could not lift its reputation fast enough..
