based on your requirement, i'd go for the montero sport 3.2 gls se.
    - you've got the latest crdi diesel technology in the market
    - super select 4x4 kaya you can also go 4x2 just like an ordinary car
    - invecs II transmission + sportronic mode
    - 7 seater
    - lsd
    - 4 wheel discs (rear drum in disc)
    - abs
    - 4 wheel independent suspension
    - in the long run, you'll not be bothered in parts availability and maintenance since mitsu yan.
    - good resale value
    - likewise, korean cars have had a bad reputation on body corrosion in the past, not sure if they improved this na.

    hth!

Montero Sport for off roading, tucson is a softroader never intended to seriously go off-road.

based din sa requirement/s mo, Montero Sport na. You can't go offroad with a CUV with an 18 inch rims with 55 series tires.

I defend ko lang yung Tucson dito,
I have to disagree dun sa latest CRDi tech. Ng Monty, hindi totoo yan. Hyundai and BMW same diesel technology. German made, bosch.
And Hyundai Tucson rated FIVE STARS on Euro NCAP safety test

At isa pa, ayoko ng kapareho.

    -latest crdi tech?

-4 wheel disc but rear drum in disc? anu ba talaga?

-haven't you heard? hyundai is at the rear bumpers of toyota and mitsu.

The inevitable - Hyundai now #3 in RP market!

it seems Montero Sport won with a landslide...
it just confirms my biggest confusion regarding both offroad capabilities...by the way, it's not that i will take it for offroading every second day, i just want it ready for anything and anywhere, like if we decide to go for a nature tripping like beaches and mountains, i can say "Let's go!" without feeling sorry for my ride, hehehe

Tucson's CRDi is ahead of Monty's, isn't it? in one way or another...

alanganin ako sa Forester sir, AFAIK, it has a bad FC, and the way it looks doesn't excite me, hehe ang i think i'm a diesel guy lalo na CRDi's...

before having 7 seats is a big deal for me but now parang hindi na, d ko alam parang na inlab cguro ako sa Tucson iX....

Sta. Fe is unquestionably a really good car but having another will make our garage look like a casa! hahaha

    thanks again sir!
    since u already have SF.

new suv's that i want side by side with my SF:

    1. Hyundai Tucson GL
    2. Ford Escape
    3. Honda CRV
    4. Mazda CX-7

in that order din. among the 4 yun Ford Escape ang puwede ko dalhin kahit saan, sa binondo, sa quiapo, sa baguio, tagaytay, laguna, sa baclaran, sa bundok, sa farm, sa beach, sa offroad etc. why? kasi ala na magkaka-interest nun heheh low profile.

puwede ko iwanan w/out worrying na baka , mabalian ng kung ano, mabangga, mabasagan, ma-carnap kasi backup brand new beater car/suv ko.
at least, the convenience and the safety are still there.

and also I choose gasoline kasi mura naman acquisition cost. i spend 2k+ full tank every 3.5 weeks. yun hundred thousands na difference sa price ng diesel suv eh pang-gas ko na lang

the only reason why i'm considering the bare model Tucson A/T is bec. it's 5 years warranty.

CRV sana pinakagusto ko kaya lang mahal eh for the same features as the escape.

ewan ko ganun ako kapractical ngaun eh

say for example if you want 2 alternating suvs; and you choose 1.5M Sta Fe CRDi + 1.6M Mitsubishi Strada CRDi. CRDi is overrated. others here simply compute the fc benefits. i dont buy it.

if i have 3.1M+. you know what i'll get:

    1 Hyundai Tucson GL A/T 1.038M
    1 Ford Escape XLS 1.055M
    1 Nissan Xtrail 1.010M

3 alternating suvs. u know why? i got a 99 crv with 90tkm on the odo. hanggang ngaun sarap pa din dalhin walang sira. ganun katibay ang mga suvs kahit gasoline compact lang

Monty uses ventilated disc (not cross drilled) and drum brake for the rear. Oh Bosch din ang injection pump ng Mitsu. For the philippine market I wouldn't place all my dough on the HP battle between crdi engines, I'll be more worried with how it'll cope with our diesel. Just look at toyotas d4d (Nippon Denso pump)? or maybe all of them in fact?
