Regarding the smoke issue, Adventures can easily spew out smoke if not properly maintained, on the other hand if you are a hands on owner and follow the regular maintenance schedule, chances of smoke issue will be lessened but it would still spew out smoke (in a lesser quantity than a passenger jeep that is.)

hmmm.. mukhang mas lamang ang avanza lalo na sa safety features kaso sabi ni misis medyo masikip ang loob compared to advie. gusto nya kasi in the future gawing pang byahe, sa tingin nyo ba saan sa dalawa ang tatagal at sulit. hindi ba hirap ang 4 passenger sa 3rd row ng avanza?

I selected Avanza because of its new engine and ideal for city/lady driving but when it comes to comfort, size and durability kay Advie na ako. Dami pa ring lumang advie na nasa kalye and the same engine sya ng mga old Pajero and L300. And I think more powrful engine.

Normal lang na magproduce ng usok si Advie kasi diesel engine sya but kung brand new naman ay it will take time bago sya maging mausok but it will depend also sabi nga nila sa pagaalaga rin yun.

In fact the Innova J is cheaper than the Avanza G. Pag ako talaga Innova J na lang, wala ngang power features but at least you get a more stable car with a more modern deisign...

the innova J does seem like the better deal...although i do have reservations about the 2.0L gas engine, kahit pa man VVT-i siya. for me kasi gas engines aren't really meant to haul stuff/people around -- more on speed/zipping around the city -- diesel ka na pag hakutan ang usapan

Same here. The operative word here is "haul" then diesel-fed vehicles are my choice esp. if it includes cargoes.

Another factor would be the longevity of ownership. If more than 5-10 years of expected serviceability, then the Adventure would get my vote.

Eh di Adventure na lang talaga choice mo or a pickup truck like Hilux J. Kasi pati Avanza wala namang diesel eh...

on the other hand, the avanza has more modern, more powerful engine(1.3L-wise of course)

am looking for something for every day city driving, with the option to haul groceries and people on the weekends.

ang katapat ng adventure is the innova. adventure vs avanza is like comparing a lancer and a vios.

Smaller vehicles tend to have better FC than bigger vehicles. but well maintained diesel engines may have lower cost per km. depende sa price difference ng gas at diesel.

household groceries is not that heavy naman to have a major impact on FC.

I am not sure, pero I think, maintaining a 1.3 efi gas engine is cheaper than a bigger diesel engine.

for me, depende talaga sa needs.

Definitely. If you get a vehicle with a big displacement diesel engine for power, tapos most of the time eh ikaw lang ang sakay, medyo lugi ka dun. Conversely, if you get a vehicle with a smaller displacement engine for fuel economy, pero lagi namang puno or mabibigat yung sakay, you'll only be constantly straining the engine towards its limits, not so good either.

If you'll use it for long mileages, like say...15,000 to 20,000 km per year, mas maganda Adventure kasi diesel fed

Nadala ko na sa Legaspi ang aking 1.3 Avanza to Legaspi from Laguna during the holy week with 8 people plus stuff on board good for 6 days. On the way back to Laguna, we were 9.

If kaya ito ng 1.3, what more ang 1.5.
