Nakita ko yan sa fb. Although im a fan of its looks, grabe naman yung engine specs at transmission. Napakaunderpowered tapos 3 speed lang. Im not sure but i think its the same engine from the previous gen. Not the skyactiv one. So things will stay the same. Bad fc because its underpowered coupled with a bad transmission. Looks lang talaga selling point. Sayang. The 2.0 version is nice though.

Marami naka misinterpret. Hindi kasi inayos ng Mazda ang ads nila.
It is Mazda 3AT sa ads nila when in fact, it should be Mazda 3 4AT.
4 AT naman sya. San pa ba sila kukuha ng 3AT ngayon hahaha....

Oops. Sa comments ko lang kasi nabasa. Pero naisip ko baka nga 3AT pa rin kasi 3AT lang yung previous gen. But still, ang hina talaga nung engine. Yung 1.6 nga na elantra nasa 124 hp na eh. Lol. Di ata 100k dapat yung price cut na ginawa nila. More like 300k. Given the fact that the specs are bad and palabas na rin yung next gen.

Well, with the release of the all-new Mazda3 "Kodo" design, looks like the current Mazda3's going to have a limited run. If they stick to their promise to release a new one sa 2014, expect a lot of Mazda3 owners to be angry. But I'll take my chances that they'll bring it in probably a year late -- 2015 to strike a balance.
The engine is the old 1.6L DOHC engine from the first-generation Mazda3 but I believe. I have no information regarding the 4-speed automatic though.
Trying to judge a car based on its specifications is a newbie's mistake. In day-to-day cases, the torque figure would give you a better know-how on the vehicle's performance rather than their horsepower ratings. A more experienced person would then want to know what is their given torque and hp given the RPM range.
The second-generation Mazda3 is also significantly lighter than its predecessor. The 2.0L engine variant is over a hundred pounds lighter than the outgoing 1.6L model -- what more for the 1.6L variant.
The Mazda3's transmission isn't bad. It's just that it isn't suited for daily traffic hence not suitable for driving around the metro. The gear ratio's quite short and the transmission is quite happy to allow the user to reach higher-revs before shifting up. It's more suited for track/spirited driving use compared to the rather boring 2000-RPM-shift-up tranny of fuel-efficient cars.
And why the heck are people obsessed with more gears? They practically mean nothing unless you're cruising down the highway. It's not like you're doing 60km/h in EDSA on peak hours. Hell, my Sonata has 6-gears and yet I'm doing 5-6km/L (thanks to mods) so unless you spend most of your time plying the highways, most people are good with 4-5.
But in all seriousness, a 4-speed automatic can even be more fuel efficient than a 5 or 6 speed. What if the 5/6 speed's final gear kicks in at 60km/h while the 4-speed has an insanely long 3rd gear and kicks in at 90km/h? This means that the 4-speed wins in cruising down NLEX/Skyway/etc. at 100km/h at a fuel-sipping contest.Last edited by jhnkvn; July 1st, 2013 at 03:52 AM.

saan ba nakukuha ung ganitong info?
clarify ko lang. eto pagkakaintindi ko dun sa statement mo, mas matipid (possibly) ang 4AT during HW runs kasi mas mabilis sya mag-accelerate to 100KPH? can you mention specific car models that behave this way (3rd gear and kicks in at 90km/h)?

Fact is, you can't really tell from paper specs how the car drives. Simple as that.
A Vios 1.3 makes 85 hp, a City 1.3 makes 100. But anyone who has driven both will tell you that for the most part of the rev range, the Vios is peppier.

Pagkakagets ko dito at hiway legal speeds (100kph satin) anong rev ng engine? The Vios AT runs at 2500 rpm while the MT runs at 3000 rpm. At 100 parang mas matipid ang AT because mas mababa revs nya. So in that sense kung nasa 2500 rpm din ang 6AT at 100kph wala ring real reason to take the 6AT over the 4AT kung hiway driving lang paguusapan.
that may be, but we all got plastic, young and old. we asked the lto guy, "papel ba po, o...
