mazda 3 owners and enthusiast, after 2 years (tama ba?) what can you say about mazda 3? would you still buy it had you knew beforehand some of its shortcomings? :-)

Bakit mukhang talo yata sa sales figure....Altis pa rin ang mabenta kahit pa-phase out na![]()
The Mazda3 1.6L is underpowered... thats after driving it from Manila-Baguio-Manila during december. Seats are not as comfy for long drives. CD changer is not easy to use (loading of discs is the main problem).
I'd say that it still is a looker, no doubt.
However, I still believe that I made the right decision in my choice of a brand new car last year (not a Mazda3...)
same here...but i got the 3Originally Posted by CVT

Pogi points, still a cut above the rest. Gwapo talaga.
Performance wise? after driving a 1.6 Mazda3, Cabuyao-Manila-Cabuyao, for three consecutive days, I'd say it's more of a "so-so" than a "zoom-zoom". Parang kapos talaga sa power, sa city driving ok na, pero sa high-speed, medyo kulang, it feels like eternity bago maabot ang 140 kph.
Loving it. Only complaint- my bass doesn't fit in the trunk! It's spacious, but kind of lacking in width. If i am to buy a car now, i'd get the 3 still. Or a Hyundai Coupe.![]()
Still one of the best, if not the best (looking) in its class here in the Philippines. That is until the next-gen Civic arrives.
2 years old? I think it's just a little over a year old.
Can't say whether or not I'd hit it... siguro if it came in 2.0 R manual, I'd consider it. I'm too much of a speed freak to get an AT only car.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
The 3 came here around mid-2004, but if i'm not mistaken its been out in the US since 2003.
2.0
MZR, I-4, DOHC, 16-Valve Engine
141 ps / 6,500 rpm maximum power
181 NM / 4,500 maximum torque
1.6
MZR, I-4, DOHC, 16-Valve Engine
105 ps / 6,000 rpm maximum power
145 NM / 4,500 maximum torque
I don't have those underpowered feelings...ever since I've mastered driving 100% using Activematic... and since I drive a hatch, it's the quicker and lighter at the steering wheel among the 1.6L 3's.

may pagkakaiba po ba ang sedan and hatch? never thought of the hatch being quicker than its sedan counterpart since it's heavier...![]()
I say the Mazda 3 had it's glory so get the Focus. They're essentially the same afterall (I haven't confirmed if both had rear independent suspension though), but the subtleness of the Focus really wins my heart. I don't drive a Mazda 3 everyday that's why I have the guts to blab all day about the Focus when the two are in comparison, but I'm not saying that the Mazda 3 isn't a cool car anymore in it's class. It's a good car but unfortunately there's a better one.
The Focus is more settled than the 3 over rough surfaces, but the 3 feels sharper. Both have independent rear suspensions. The Focus is heavier, but better insulated. Any choice between the two really depends on which suits your taste, as the Mazda is more a bachelor's car, while the Focus is for the aspiring junior exec.
