    2011 Mazda 2 1.3L Hatchback / MT = 685,000
    2011 Toyota Vios 1.3E / MT = 685,000

    Changed my mind.

    - I prefer manual tranny for fuel consumption and maintenance.
    - this will be my first car
    - more on city driving
    - Im still a bachelor, so interior space won't be an issue for me

Please help me choose between these two only, consider all factors,

    - fuel consumption
    - looks
    - power
    - cost
    - maintenance
    - parts
    - resell value
    - features
    - safety

Please don't include the Honda City (too expensive for a first car) and Hyundai Accent (don't like the looks of it) - personal opinion. Lets just focus on these two only please

i think the comparison would be better if its the Mazda 2 1.3 MT hatch vs the Ford Fiesta 1.4 MT hatch. they have the same price and both are hatchbacks.

the advantages of getting the vios rather than this two are resale value, maintenance cost and replacement parts cost. all the other factors point to the fiesta or mazda2.

if it were a comparison between the two i will choose the ford fiesta because it looks sleeker to me and it actually have good reviews from europe. and i think that it's one the best seller there. but if you insist in getting either of the vios or mazda2 ,obviously i'd choose the mazda 2.

    just my 2 cents!

Nilabas yung 1.3L MZ2 sometimes around when the Fiesta was launched. Siguro para hindi ma-canibalize ang MZ2 ng Fiesta Trend. Pero between these two FGP products, laki ng lamang ng Fiesta sa sales...

Both cars are good enough for you. But having a trunk will surely be a plus. Who knows, you might need one someday.

    Fuel Consumption

    - I'm not aware of what the Mazda 2 can achieve but for the Vios I've heard and read that it really can be an econo-car. Can reach up to 22km/l on loooooooong and slooooooow ( ave. 80kph ) drives. And yeah, Mazda's known to produce gas guzzling vehicles ( READ : Mazda 3 )

    Looks

    - Definitely the MZ2 wins in this segment. The new vios looks ... er .. gay. With the huge ass chrome grille and the fancy tail lights. The pre-MMC units were better.

    Power

    - Um. Probably equal. The Mazda being smaller and the Vios being, I think .. lighter.

    Cost

    - Vios. More practical since its bigger and it has a trunk.

    Maintenance & Parts

    - Again, Vios. It's maintenance cost is DIRT CHEAP and its parts are almost everywhere.

    Resale value

    - If the Pinoy's mentality wont change soon then the Vios will win because of it being a Toyota.

    Features

    - Mazda 2. The Vios doesn't come with power side mirrors and it comes with ugly looking rims too.

    Safety

    - I'm not pretty sure but I really think the Mazda 2 wins here. Does the vios come with an airbag ?

    --

Anyways, overall I'll pick the Vios and modify it when budget permits.

Mazda 2 bro, it's sportier and cooler to customize. I like the colors and rear design too bro.

Mazda 2 for me. Don't own both cars so Looks talaga ang basehan ko, and I am leaning on Mazda2 na.

tsaka, talagang nakakasawa na yung vios, I don't own one pero sa dami palang ng meron even may magbigay sa akin nito, ibebenta ko kaagad and might get what, Mazda 2.

    Nadale mo bro! hehe.

What stops me in getting mazda 2 is the cost for the maintenance, since its my first time to own a car, I don't know much sa maintenance costs, gaano kadalas, parts, etc. As in noob. hindi ko alam anong papasukin kong problema/gastos kumbaga.

Mga magkano po ba tansya nyo na average na gagastusin sa maintenance ng mazda 2 or toyota vios (ofcourse I know vios is cheaper - I just want to know what to expect )

    * TS: bro, much better punta ka sa CASA and ask SA for the PMS cost for each interval. Kung taga QC ka, maganda kung punta ka sa Quezon Ave branch ng toyota and Mazda. halos magkatapat lang kaya madali tong magawa. Tell them to give you straight answer para di na sila magpaligoy ligoy ka. Nagawa ko to for both Vios and Lancer nung 2009.

*renzo: Still repeating that same old story? We've had enough feedback already from owners of new Mazdas to know that they're just as good as the rest in terms of fuel consumption.

    - fuel consumption

Have driven the Vios 1.5 back to back with the Mazda2 1.5. Same consumption. Have gotten good consumption from a Mazda2 1.3, but I haven't had a chance to do back-to-back comparisons.

    - looks

    Mazda2

    - power

The Mazda2 comes off the line better, but the Vios engine has a bit more "oomph" in the top end.

    - cost
    - maintenance
    - parts

Unknown... though they should be similar.

    - resell value

Will depend on buyers... but resale value should be great for both... people pay a premium for fuel efficient cars secondhand.

    - features

Both rather bare. Vios has a slightly better sounding radio, but that's it.

    - safety

Mazda2 is a newer design with high-strength alloy in the crash structure. But the Vios is pretty safe, as it is.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

renzo, the Vios has driver's airbag on all models. 1.5L models have dual airbags. 1.3E model also has ABS in tandem with those airbags.

One thing that you might want to consider when getting a Mazda 2 is this... "you get a free skin OR an accessory package plus P3,000 cash discount OR a purchase deal (P10,000 cash discount or other financing schemes)."
yeah..you can actually put a skin on your car.

    Whoops, thanks for clarifying.

    I stand corrected.

Mazda 2 1.3 MT Hatchback vs Toyota Vios 1.3E MT
