Believe it or not nung papunta kaming manaoag eh isa lang ang nakita naming EX on the entire trip.
btw, EX GLS din yung samin.

sabi din sakin nung nagtetest drive ng lancer ex gls pag traffic daw it only uses 12valves rather than all the 16's

i really dont know but they both bug me hahahha thanks sur oliver
Actually sir Naka MX din ako, pero iba kasi ako e, imbes na jollibee or mcdo, mas gusto ko sa burger king, kahit parehong hamburger.

7-9 km/l city driving for a 1.6 Altis isn't that right. Most of the feedback I read on the internet range from 8-10 km/l city, which is just about right for a modern 1.6. A 10 km/l city driving Lancer EX is also unbelievable. Mixed driving, probably, but EDSA conditions? No way. I doubt it'd go past 8.5 even on a light foot.

For the most part, smaller displacement equals less fuel consumption. And keep in mind that the Altis isn't as heavy as you think. In fact it's still one of the lighter cars in the compact class.

Given the new facelifted Altis, it's really an improved car, and if you don't need the performance of a 2.0, then go for the Altis. Of course it's just a matter of what your prioritize in a car, they don't necessarily go for the same crowd, one's sporty, the other's luxury.

maybe late na reply ko.. i recently bought kasi the facelifted 1.6V corolla...
my past car was a lancer gls 2003 model..
ang masasabi ko pre, ito lang natutunan ko from my 12 years of owning and driving a car...

If mcdo is civic and jollibee is altis.. and lancer is burger king..

WHY DO YOU THINK MAS MARAMING KUMAKAIN SA JOLLIBEE/MCDO than BURGER KING if you are referring to taste of food..

I have been driving a lancer since 1996 model and clearly, pagdating sa daan kaunti lang makikita mong lancer? bakit kaya? kasi panget ang taste ng mga filipino kaya they would go for civic or altis? simple logic lang yan.. and bakit kaya ang daming montero at fortuner sa daan ngayun at kakaunti lang ang ford everest?

I have been comparing all 3 cars under 1M for a year now before i chose altis...

    luxury is for altis..
sportiness is for civic and lancer..
but for looks, its between civic and altis..

so picked up luxury over sportiness.. anyway, city driving lang naman ako lagi.. pero 1.6 altis now has 120hp under the hood..

but if going to choose between the 2.0s there.. of course I will choose lancer.. feature packed narin plus 155hp pa.
kaso over 1M na sila e..

Wrong! The Mitsu Lancer EX GLS is only P930K after the dealer discounts the SRP.

The Mitsu Lancer EX GLX (M/T) is under P900K. Not bad for a "biggish" car with so much performance and aftermarket potential.

So using your own burger shops analogy, the Lancer EX would be Brothers Burger.

    Because people are sheep.

C'mon... like you haven't seen dozens of people flock to Starbucks for an insanely overpriced drink just because it's the "sosy" thing to do... or watch "Titanic" for the 1,000,000th time because it's uso (a lot of theater owners were very happy that year...).

It's like white bread. It's never going to win awards for being the healthiest or best-tasting... but more people buy it because they're sheep and they're used to buying it... even if pandesal tastes better and costs less.

Personally, Burger King's burgers are more substantial than McDonald's freeze-dried, wilted creations and are less barf-inducing than Jollibee's ridiculously greasy meat-bombs.

    -

Disclaimer: I still eat at Jollibee more than the other two because Jollibee has Palabok.

The Corolla is still a great commuter car. But there are better choices out there, the Civic 1.8 surpasses it in terms of technology, features and space... which is why it is handily surpassing it in terms of sales, despite the recent model change. Yes, the Civic rides like a pile of rocks, but most sheep don't test drive before they buy... ...too bad for them, the Corolla 1.6 has the softest ride of almost any car I've ever driven.

Unfortunately, at the higher end of the market, the Civic 2.0V is up against stiff competition. My beef with it is that the suspension and brakes that work well with the 1.6 are dangerously overwhelmed by the engine's weight and power... which is why I can't really recommend it over superior products like the Lancer, Focus and Civic, all of which are exceptionally well-mannered in the way that they drive, and much safer.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

By all means, I believe that a Honda Civic 1.8 S would fit the bill. Just priced between the two (hell, at least it doesn't top 1M), VTEC performance, maintenance on par with Toyota (and parts too), and fuel efficiency to boot.

But with the two choices above, I'll go for the Lancer EX too rather than the Altis. The Altis is a good car, make no mistake, but it doesn't ignite any testosterone at all. When it comes down to it, it just depends on whether you like a bit of performance with the trade-off of cheaper interior materials.

Based on driving dynamics, Lancer wins hands-down.
Fuel Efficiency, I'd say just drive intelligently
    Interior, Altis. Exterior, Lancer.

The Altis was never really a "drivers" car. If you plan on using it as a daily drive, I'd recommend the Lancer as it'll still put a smile over your face even after years of daily driving.

The Lancer EX GLS is only P930,000 after the normal dealer discounts.

    The Civic 1.8L A/T with ABS & Airbags = P973,000
