Diesel definitely. The gas will have more speed but heck the L300 isnt really the type of car you'd want to drive too fast in really.
You just have to make sure the fuel system of the diesel is in a-ok order and maintained well so as to aqvoid any headaches and power loss.

Hehe, yung L300 diesel namin dito more than 10 years old na. Bugbog pa man din, matibay talaga. Ayaw magretire.

The 4g63 of the local L300 was rated at 88bhp in 1988 (we had one). The diesel of same vintage is rated at 72bhp.
The gas version averages around 7km/L. The engine is equipped with counter rotating balance shafts. The engine is turbine smooth from idle to redline.
The diesel is still more practical.

We had both gas and diesel variants. The gas can go a bit faster by a few kph but drinks up a lot. The diesel has good enough torque, good for business. We had to let go of the gas variant since it costs more to use. Both are cheap to maintain. Another thing, the gas variant is smoother and quieter than the later for obvouis reasons.
