Pero may mga instances na tinalo pa rin sila ng Sorento for an award sa abroad.
Para sa akin, baby pa ang Fortuner at marami pa silang dapat e sort out sa kanya. One is the realiability of their D4D engine and body which is not rigidly tested pa.
Para sa akin, resale does not really affect much as long as my ride has served my purpose and without any trouble na binigay sa akin.

I think they learned their lesson and probably will try their best not to commit same mistakes again.
They must have realized how difficult it is to regain confidence with the badge once it got tainted. That's why KIA spent a lot of money building test and research facilities in States and in Europe. I think they are serious with their drive to uplift their brand to be known worldwide and they hit a jackpot with Sorento and Sedona/Carnival models.

thanks for the replies about the tires, jeanpierre and gregg_g. worried kasi ako na baka nga may problema yung korean tires ng sorento. if so, baka magpalit kame para panigurado. the tires in our LX Ltd unit is hankook 225/75R16.

ours is ebony black also but with gray combo on the lower part. astig tingnan.

it's comforting to know that those who have longer driving experience with it are very satisfied.

i've been hearing the toyota d4d problems for some time now and it makes me worry baka ganun din ang sorento. good thing, wala pa yatanag ganung problem with our rides.

Mas nauna ang Sorento kaysa Fortuner I believe. I'm sure you will enjoy your ride.

The compulsory leather seats just to get in line for the Fortuner is reason enough to go with the Sorento. Really annoying sales practice. Add in their financing and accesories raket, then it's no contest for me if it's between the two. Only issue I see is the third row. (good thing I have a Venture)

Good things seems to have happened to Kia ever since they have been purchased by Hyundai. The Sportage was able to access the Tucson's platform, the Picanto with the Getz, Rio with the Accent, Sedona with the Trajet. Heck, the Sorento practically has the same CRDi engine with the Starex.

It's good for starex then having same reliable engine with Sorento. Between Starex and Sorento, it's the Sorento who've used CRDI engine first.

Based on this thread now my inclination goes to Sorento But my wife still wants Fortuner for our next car project. I think the best is to have test on both of this SUV for final acquisation, the only thing which is doubting is the D4-D engine of TOYOTA which could not be compatible to our DEISEL fuel environment on RP conditions

Read the Fortuner owners threads, as well as the Sorento owners threads, so you can make a well informed decision.

Kung mainipin ka get the sorento but if you have the patience wait in line for the fortuner. So i assume may ilan ding sorento owners also wanted a fortuner but do not have the patience.

we are one of those who could not wait for a fortuner any longer and so we opted for a sorento. ok naman so far.

pero everytime i see a fortuner on the road, i still say 'that's one ***y SUV'.

but another issue for us with the fortuner is its price even if we only want/can afford a 2.5 D4D. mas mahal talaga lalabas dahil sa 'forced' options and inhouse financing. medyo out of budget na. tapos 2WD lang saka much lower ang hp and torque.

Well in my opinion, blessings sa KIA ang kasakiman ng Toyota dealers sa Fortuner deals nila. I think that's what KIA dealers are hoping for kasi there is no need for them to spend that much money for advertisement of Sorento. Lalo na ngayon that their price has shoot up na sa Fortuner.
Bilog is right, we can see a noticeable number of Sorentos on the street na talaga. If there is only enough accessory shops where we can buy and accessorized our Sorento, I'm sure that magiging mas matindi pa dating ng Sorento.
    * jrln, you did a good choice buying a Sorento instead of Fortuner 2.5 kasi para sa akin talagang "under powered" sya having same displacement sa Sorento. Maski na nga siguro ang 3.0V nila kung sa take off lang baka iwan mo pa sya but eventually he'll be able to catch up with Sorento sa straight road since mas mataas ang Hp nya.

Nope... So has the Sorento CRDi variants available in RP... Only the 3500 V6 variant won the awards in the US, 'di ba? So, if you prefer an actual award winner, go get the V6 Sorento...
