Kia Sedona vs. Chevy Venture

ano naman kaya ang reklamo sa sedona? actually parang walang gaanong reklamo sa sedona except mas maganda daw ang loob ng venture.

in terms of pre-sales and post-sales service, overall value for money, comfort and safety, capacity and power, etc...

Another advantage of the Venture is the larger cargo area... it has more usable cargo space even with the 3rd row seats in place.

Wala namang perfect car. Pero everytime I think about mbt's Chevy Venture, no thanks na lang. Mas ok pa ang Kia.

Siyempre mas powerful ang Venture. But in most local driving conditions, the output of the Sedona is adequate. Plus the abundance of third party service and parts centers means maintenance won't be such a hassle. Unlike the Venture whose parts are almost only available in at the stealership.

We were all set to buy a Sedona, then we test drove it. Ok lang, disappointed ng konti sa suspension. Then we test drove the Venture. Palabas pa lang ng dealer we both knew this was it. This was two years ago.

We've never had a problem with it. Up to now we still comment on how it has been the best purchase we've ever made. It's great for the kids, and when some a-hole bus driver or jeep driver or taxi driver or bus driver or bus driver starts driving like..a bus driver, I floor it and zoom!, adios amigos! :asta:

And for a 3.0, the mileage ain't too bad either. For me and the wifey, compared with a Sedona, it's no contest.

it seems the problem is unique with gas engine sedona...anong sabi ng service center, common prob daw ba ng gas fed sedona?

ang sabi nung service advisor nung nagrereklamo ako, "gas kasi sir ang nabili nyo eh". That was a hint, probably. Besides i've seen posts in other forums like in australia where they have the same 2.5 gas engine describing the same engine problem and the same remedy, which is to do a short engine replacement.

wow, kung ganon nga dapat diesel na. ang isang masakit nyan pano kung labas na sa warranty, di buti pa bumili na lang ng bago...

Based on the feedback i've gotten from owners here at Tsikot and outside, a diesel Sedona for me.

I own a gas fed sedona. V6. I don't plan on buying another one. At 6K odo, had to replace engine block kasi pumapasok coolant sa combustion chamber. First time it was diagnosed, they tried first replacing the gaskets. Did not work, kaya change engine. short engine tawag nila if only engine block. Did not cost me anything kasi under warranty. Hassle. Kakainis.

Front suspension clunks! They seem to not be able to fix it.

Lately, me oil naman sa radiator. They changed another gasket. Still observing kung nawala na.

Had rpm problems. Tumataas bigla ang RPM to about 2500 and stays there. Took Kia tatlong pabalik balik before they got it fixed. Di ba kakaasar yung balik ka nang balik?

Brake fluid leak! They said they fixed it, but this morning saw fresh liquid on my garage floor, but I'm getting them benefit of doubt. Baka lang tira tira yun. Still under observation.

Power antenna stopped working. No parts. Waiting for more than a month now.

Lately nag-develop ng strange sound pag umaatras ng alalay. Syempre pag paatras laging alalay. he he he.. Sabi ng Kia normal daw yun kasi they compared with other units ganun din daw. Kaso di naman ganun dati yun. Arrgh!!

All this happened and still happening within the first 6K to 15K odo reading. 15K pa lang ako. Oo nga matagal ang warranty and I think I spent about 600 pesos lang for all of these, pero palagi namang me problema. It takes a great toll on your patience. It wastes your valuable time. And what happens after the warranty expires?

Sabi nung ibang Kia sedona owners, yung kanila naman daw di ganun. Diesel yung kanila. So it's probably the gas version that sucks. Or probably just mine. Baka lemon yung nakuha ko.

nice feedback iq0, maganda at na kuwento mo, this will spark/encourage other sedona owners na mag voice out na rin ng naging problema ng sedona nila.

Actually i bought it Sept 2004. Probably tiempo tiempo nga lang yan, but I have heard of at least 1 other gas fed sedona with the same coolant loss problem.

Saka, kung balak mo bumili ng Kia Sedona, antayin mo na lang yung parating na model. O kaya bilihin mo na lang itong sa kin, at bibili na lang ako ng starex... joke lang ser.

But believe it or not, if the venture and the sedona are the only two minivans left in the world, I would still pick the sedona.

I own a sedona, and rode in my friend's venture. In terms of suspension, very close. In terms of cargo space, venture. In terms of seat comfort, sedona (kasi yung venture, naka front seating bench type, while my sedona has captain seats in the front, and 2nd row). In terms of power, venture, but my friend drove slow, kasi ang takaw sa gas, so di ko na feel ang power, while with the sedona, you will feel the power especially the torque of diesel.
