hehehehe... I actually know a 2006 focus that only has 10k kms on it and it's my brother-in-law's. Anyway maybe i'm just not used to high mileage cars with such new models.

But I do agree, pag binili ang car dapat talaga gamitin -- araw araw! :D

yup, we bought two units. Ours is really the last unit, literally. Was offered the newer gasoline, but i was not as impressed as with the CRDi ones. No regrets, especially when i pedal to the metal ;)

I always liked the CRDi accent. Too bad di na siya offered sa new Accent.

You would have to wait. The CRDi engines for the new Accent is confirmed for 2012, as well as the hatchback body.

I saw a 1977 model galant running in the street this afternoon, and I began to think that my car might still be running 20 years from now?

One thing that '77 Galant has as an advantage: no electronics. :D

so, that is one of the reasons why old cars (60's-70's model) are still in running condition and easier to maintain and restore than newer cars? there are many vintage cars that are kept by their owners specially volkswagen beetle.

When properly taken cared of, old cars still have a long life ahead of them. Some may even outlive their drivers! As for modern cars naman, I believe if we take good care of them, they would still give many, many more years of faithful service. Consider the Galant GTi, many of these are now more than twenty years old. Despite being among the first Japanese cars sold locally to offer such high level of technology for its time, I still see many immaculately maintained fully stock units in conditions normally expected from sub-ten year old cars.

Hahaha~ Not really. When I was signing up, I was thinking of a car related, nice-sounding and easy to remember username and this just sort of popped up. But I have always had great respect for the Galant GTi, or even it's lower variants. The design is timeless, durability is excellent, and the ride is very comfortable. We have a family friend who owns a 1.8L Galant Super Saloon. First owner sila at hanggang ngayon nandun pa yun. PKx-xxx yung plaka at faded na pero yung pintura parang bago parin, walang kalampag at sarap parin sakyan.

That is one reason. No electronics mean that it's much more basic to service and no wiring harnesses, ECU, etc. that will deteriorate. Idling problems? Just check the carb and ignition system; no sensors to scan or clean, no servo to replace, etc.

Kalaban mo lang with old cars is finding the needed parts, and the exterior or interior trim will be pricey due to rarerity.

Kaya pala ang dadaming Corolla XL/XE Big Body na stock (yes, STOCK!) and Sentra LEC/JX/LEC-PS na stock rin. Yung mga hindi naging taxi, privately used at makikinis ang labas and some had the conduction sticker pa!
