For the family ...... get brand new (peace of mind is priceless nowadays)
For you and your itchy tinkering fingers (like me) ... old cars will do .. :D
depende pa rin, sa kaibigan ko kasi they used to keep their old car, why? because that is also their first car, and they used to keep it because wala naman problema, well maintained, accessorized, fuel-efficient pa din naman (a 1995 corolla Gli) then last year they bought a new one (an montero) because he said he want to experience again having a brand car like what they did last experienced so many years ago, and also to experience new feature in car technology.

in the case of my relatives, they used to change their car every 10 years, well, panata na nila yun e.
makikisali lang ako bro. ha, actually, short trips lang ang byahe ko. daily drive, average distance from point A to point B is 1 KM. Ang pinakamalayo na halos ay 8 KM. Kaya as of now, I am contented with my car because it is serving me well, at medyo marami na rin akong parts na napaayos specially sa engine. So kahit na ibyahe ko sya from Bicol to Manila, I think kaya nya. The last time na natambay sya sa mechanic ko for suspension arms and front shocks replacement eh nong May 2011 pa. So, for 8 months, ok naman ang performance, wala pa namang ibang parts na nasisira.
^ in relation to Ry_Tower's comment po yong reply ko. in addition to that, I have a good and trusted mechanic. and as of now, marami pa namang parts ang 7th G galant. In fact, marami pa akong nakikita sa NCR/Metro Manila na 7 G galant na I presume na in good running condition.
wala naman akong fuel allocation bro. pero although the galant is already considered as gas guzzler by others, ok lang naman sa akin kasi nga short trips lang, ang 500 pesos ko na premium gas is good for 3-5 days, depende sa gamit.but if i'm living in manila, siguro naman, mapipilitan din akong bumili ng brand new or slightly used compact/econo car or AUV na pang-daily drive.
I live in a developing city in a province kaya it is not as dangerous to drive a motorcycle like in manila kasi ang average speed ng car and motorcycles here in our city is about 10-40 kms/hour, depende sa traffic.

Fasten your seatbelt! Or else...Driven To Thrill!
Nice thread! I have a '93 Corolla Gli 2nd hand. Still running good! Well maintained ko naman eh. The usual wear and tear theory applies kaya pag may kailangan palitan palit agad. No major problems yet. I was thinking of selling it last year for a new City kaso naisip ko parang pareho lang nung na test drive ko city. Haha! And hindi pa kaya ang monthly payments for a new car. So stick muna ko sa reliable Gli ko![]()
a good reason to buy an newer car is that, in general, a newer body design means better crash safety.
in general, a brand new car is most reliable. my brother's vios needed maintenance only in the first 5 years.
a "new" car with 50,000 km can be unreliable already.
buy only what you need.![]()
That's the same reason I stuck with when I parted with my Galant and purchased a new City. The peace of mind that I have now is priceless. Wherever I go, I no longer have to worry whether my car will breakdown or not.
But then again, it all depends on the circumstances. Given the right resources, I'm sure all of us want a TOTL SUV. I mean, I would. :D
