Baka depende sa model. Ako, pinsan ko, at kaibigan ko naka Ranger 2.2L dati. Wala namang naging issues, consistent solid ang reliability. Bugbog yung mga yun sa byahe ha. Yung Focus naman namin hindi na powershift dual clutch pero napa warranty makina, ilang taon na din lumipas, di na ulit nagkaroon ng problema pa... another is yung pre-facelifted Mustang the one with the V8 and 6 speed auto, one of the most reliable muscle cars.

So if you’re looking at Ford vehicles mas maganda mag research sa model na tinitignan as it seems may ibang models na ok, may iba na hindi. Quality varies from model to model.

Yung Territory hindi pa natin masasabi talaga. Not much history and info sa CVT and its turbo engine. We’ll just have to see in 3 years or so kung may problema.

Most likely sa low-end trims, isuzu will retain the traditional handbrake lever but those units are limited to the 1.9 rz4e kasi wala naman low-end na 3.0 4jj3 unless may lt 4x4 din like the d-max.

you are lucky. kinda had a different experience.

my uncle had a 2011 Ford fiesta sedan dct. had the transmission replaced but pabalik balik pasin sa kasa. he sold it without ever finding a solution to the horrible transmission.

we had a 2009 ranger 2.2 at. had it for less than two years. intercooler piping had a habit of breaking and leaking boost. masakit sa bulsa palitan at 7k sa casa. finally just before selling transmission was acting up. palaging nakailaw yun dashboard. solenoid ekek. sold it at around 30k plus kms.

As I said, depende sa model. We all know their DCT is crappy. It's already common knowledge at this point, that's why we bought the Focus since it doesn't have the DCT. Also our Ranger had a manual transmission so I can't comment on your experience sa AT. Yung sa intercooler, hindi ba dapat na warranty ninyo yun since less than two years pa lang naman? I had a similar experience but after being replaced with a different intercooler under warranty, wala ng issue. Kung recurring yung issue sa inyo, it means the casa probably didn't install it properly. That's why if one is looking at Ford vehicles and he's not lazy, mas maigi mag research. I mean if you test drove one and really liked it over its competitors, tapos kaya ka lang atrasado kasi ang inaalala mo yung reliability, might as well ask from the owners of the model and variant you liked. If they say they had bad experience, avoid it, and if they say wala naman silang problema, go. Sayang naman if someone is missing out on an otherwise reliable vehicle because some of the cars in their line up has issues tapos hindi naman related or iba yung parts na gamit sa model na gusto mo.

    Exactly. To each his own.

Everyone has different value systems when deciding their cars. One’s own choice may not be the best choice for someone else.

    Finally saw a Corolla Cross!

One was while driving along C5 and the other a BGC

Looks ok, but the Territory still looks better.

Exactly why we are fortunate to be members of this forum and we get to discuss issues of various cars.

I honestly find it disappointing and alarming that both of you have issues with the intercooler.

As for the DCT, I've heard about horror stories for the longest time, pero even my best friend in AUS decided to get a Fiesta since all her friends are using one!
Ganun din colleague ni misis, decided to get an EcoSport and she's happy with it.

Early adopter ng Ranger dati eh. 1st year pa nung na release ang 2.2L Ranger dati. Casa found a tiny crack sa intercooler. If I recall, they replaced it with what looks like an updated intercooler. Never had a problem ever since. Hey, it was a newly designed engine back then. Kahit naman Toyota, may issues nga dati with the early days of D4D hehe.

Well, true. The Territory looks better than the Corolla Cross. Also, the TOTL Territory model is cheaper than the Corolla Cross entry model.

    back to the topic...

Another plus for the Innova/Fortuner is the 10 year life cycle. I think we are mid-way right now before an all new model is released.

(Personal opinion) the Toyota's also ages more gracefully compared to Mitsubishi

Just look at the Previous Gen Innova and Fortuner compared to the previous Gen Montero

For me if I already own a car that has good residuals (any Japanese pickup/PPV/van or most Toyotas) I can go ahead and buy another car that I want even if it depreciates faster. Would be great if they were one and the same thing, but it rarely happens. Life is short. Hirap din naman na naeenjoy mo lang yung car at selling time lang.

For those who own the territory and the corolla cross can I ask what the fuel consumption is? I'm also looking to buy a car and I've currently narrowed it down to those two. I will mostly be using it on the highway.

Also another concern is the availability of ford parts. What is the experiencs of ford owners here when their cars need repairs? Do you really need to wait for a long time before parts become available?

    Thank you!!

My comment about Ford parts availability is exclusive only to what I know/experienced with my uncle when they owned a 2007(?) 1.8 DCT Focus and a 2011(?) DCT 1.5 Fiesta (non ecoboost). If it is just the regular maintenance parts affected by usual wear and tear not really a point of concern. But with the big ticket item like transmission, harder to say as Ford (back then) really avoided dealing with the DCT issues and kept dealing with it via software/firmware resets/updates. Both were sold after they exhibited DCT issues that couldn't be remedied by Ford after 2-3 attempts(excuses). The 1.8L Focus, I really loved driving it on the highway when I went out of town with my uncle. I was never really found wanting. The noticeable concerns we had were the "flimsy" plastic levers for the seats and what-nots in the car that you really could break if you were not careful. The Fiesta didn't have similar type of levers though, so I'm assuming the Territory doesn't have this as well as it is not a "euro design".

So for the Territory, it is sourced from China so major parts "shouldn't" take long if it really needs to be indent ordered. But, this is the first Ford in PH with a CVT correct? The CVT is the major point of concern that you'd have to really make sure to have the CVTF properly serviced by casa or a knowledgeable mechanic.

We never tried outside third party stores/dealers like MazFord at the time of ownership/maintenance issues of both vehicles. But I read good things about them here.

Depends on the model again. For popular ones like our Ranger, even before the introduction of shopee and lazada, parts are readily available and not that expensive. At the current rate of Ford Territories I’m seeing on the road, it seems to be rather popular... for now at least... so parts might actually be easy to find in the future.

Car will be used for 10 years in Metro Manila with occasional out of town trips
95% of the time, 1-2 passengers

    Options are:
(I've seen other possible options and have decided NOT to consider them).

    1. Innova G A/T - I think eto pinasulit sa options. At PHP 1,592,000 - mawawala lang sa akin is the V's Captain's chair, Push to start and Airbags
    2. Innova V - around PHP 140K more expensive, pero may DRL (big plus for me), push to start (big plus for wife) & Captain's chair (big plus kung sino man sasakay)

    3. Fortuner G A/T - I think this is the biggest among the cars I'm looking at. Bibili na lang din, go big

*based on the site, I think the Innova G/V and Fortuner G has front and rear sensors + back-up camera -> really important for my wife

    4. Montero GLS A/T - has cruise control and electric parking brake. I think is also has a 360 camera

*big plus sa Montero yung cruise control and parking brake. very high points for the 360 camera

Isinama ko na din options 5&6 as wife thinks the 4 cars mentioned above are too big

    5. Corolla Cross - haven't seen one, pero based on what I've read. looks good as an alternative (I also prefer the 1.8 engine compared to the Territory's 1.5L engine)

    6. Territory Titanium - love the looks and the sunroof

    key points:
    • Options 1-4 may be more expensive now, pero I'm sure mababawi ko yung extra $$$ when I sell the car 10 years later
    • Options 1-4 are diesel, I'm sure to get better mileage when the car is loaded with cargo (especially sa out of town trips)
    • MPV vs SUV - the only benefit I see here is that mas mura tires nung Innova when its time to replace them.

That 5% for out of town trips may be "occasional," pero its the only time when the in-laws will be riding the car and the only time when 2-3 times ka magpapa-full tank in a week
    Update (May 2020)

Visited Honda this week (PMS na din kasi ng car ko)

HR-V is out, thanks to the 3rd Gen na di pa available locally
    BR-V is out, N7X preview

CR-V (V Diesel 9AT) - the 5 inch head unit is a deal breaker, tapos wala pang front sensors
