    Hi mga sirs:

Getting a SUV this month or latest by Sept. Narrowed it down to either the Hyundai Tucson 2.0R Premium eVGT or Kia Sorento 2.2R eVGT FWD or the Subaru Forester 2.5XT.

I've had the CRV, X-Trail, and Outlander before and wanna try a different brand. Don't really need all the space for now since its just me, the wifey, and our Golden Retriever. Considering the Sorento because I like the way it looks and read many ggod things about the new Hyundai diesel engine. As you may notice, price is not really an issue among the 3 choices. I do mostly city driving but go up north every weekend. Ave. trip per day is only about 20kms. on weekdays. Although fuel consumption is important, I'm more particular with safety, reliability, durability. Resale value is not a big consideration since I'll probably keep this vehicle for 3-4 yrs. I read the thread of the new Tucson issues and I consider this alarming for a brand new vehicle. (ECU reset, knocking sounds at the rear, fogging up fog lights, etc.) I sure hope these are exemptions to the rule. 2WD or 4WD is ok but I notice the Tucson diesel only comes in 4wd (although not a full 4wd).

Unlike most in my family, I am one of those who truly believe that Korean made vehicles now rival the Japs. However, since I've yet to own one I don't have the credibility. Will the Tucson or Sorento prove me wrong?

Pls share your experiences and comments especially on the points above.

    Thanks.

Good choice in considering the Kia Sorento .. I also like the way it looks.. a not so common sight on the road like the tucson.. I also like the forester but i dont like its exterior design ..The perfomance of the forester is not too far compared to the Sorento 2.2R eVGT, you can also reach the speed which the forester is capable..

Believe me, Forester 2.5 XT by a mile. Test drive one, even the 2.0 variant, and you'll "smile" yourself past the competition.

I'll also go for the Subaru Forester 2.5XT. By all means diesel engines are good, but there's something about a turbocharged gasoline engine that makes you smile besides, the Forester aged gracefully..

Yep I think it would be difficult or maybe even impossible for the Sorento CRDi to match the Forester on TOP SPEED. Iba pa rin ang gasoline engine... Sa acceleration on low speeds may laban pero lagpas 100km/h that's where the turbocharged gasoline engine would be better...

The Sorento is ECU-limited to between 190-200 km/h. A stock Forester XT can go nearly 220 km/h. Moderately modified ones hit around 240+.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

I know & even though its ECU-limited to between 190-200 km/h it could still go pass 200.. What i mean here is the Kia Sorento 2.2R eVGT can also reach the stock forester's top speed but the forester could reach it faster.

THERE'S NO SUPPLY! Plus 4 metro manila dealerships gave me estimates of 3 months at least without a single one even saying a definite date not even by xmas 2010. I even met another prospective buyer who said he's been waiting since July. Wow! Granted its a good vehicle and in demand in other countries, I just couldn't understand why they (HARI) spend so much on marketing w/out securing supply.

Then I saw an ad about KDM Tucsons and their immediate availability albeit w/ different prices. Anybody has feedback on these? Will the Hyundai dealerships service these? Warranties?

I went back to MI and found out that they now have supply of the FXT. Basically unchanged. Has less toys than the Tucson premium but I can probably live with it. I'll probably change the head unit to include a NAV / DVD unit w/ rear camera (Any suggestions?) ... Was hoping the seats come with power lumbar support like the Legacy's (will probably be difficult to replace... Owners, any feedback on the seats after long drives?) ...
i have a 2.0x forester, the seats are ok at long drives. and out of all the choices you have the forester really has the least toys you want, but it's raw performance will make up for it.

you do know that the forester's performance isn't just about it's top speed right? it will out handle any asian SUV/CUV available in the market, saying that the forester's performance is not too far compared to the sorento is like saying that the STi's performance is also not too far from the genesis coupe.

Im not questioning the forester's performance, i know its fast..Im just talking about the top speed & what im pointing out is the sorento could also reach the stock foresters top speed but the forester could hit it faster.

That's comforting, foresterx, but now I just read that the new revised Forester is coming to RP by 2nd qtr. 2011 and the changes are not only cosmetic ... new transmission, new boxer engine, etc. Might change my plans altogether.
