Depends also on your theater of operation. If you study here at UST, you'd need something taller than a Jazz if you don't like excusing yourself out of class once it rains hard. hehehe.
To its credit, given a good road, the Jazz is loads of fun. More fun than its price or econobox roots would suggest.

Exactly... Meron ka na ba matinong livelihood to support a diesel SUV? Nothing wrong with a small car. Ako nga I use a Yaris myself for my daily use to visit my various shops and to go to my office and I simply love it since its cheap to use and maintain...

If you have a tight budget and you'll shoulder the purchase of the car,the PMS, and gas, go for the Jazz. But if your parents will be the one to purchase the car and shoulder the PMS and gas, go for the Montero. Nothing beats the flexibility of a big and high car. (I miss my big old car)
I have a Jazz now and Im lovin every moment with it but if I had extra budget for a car, I'd go for the MS coz of its clearance form the ground and size. I move around Metro Manila a lot and I need a lot of hauling space.
But I agree with the test drive.....go and test drive the 3 units.

let us say, every 5k km naman ang PMS (for a diesel), so let us say kayang-kaya naman nang parents ni TS yung PMS cost. how about sa fuel? mukhang iiyak ang parents ni TS sa pang-araw-araw na pang-gas/diesel niya hehe.
and I can say, Honda Jazz is quite a great car for a student. kung ako man ang magulang tapos may anak ako na bibigyan ko nang kotse, Vios 1.3 J lang malamang hehe. No need for a fancy car at that age.

ang kuripot mu naman sir na parent. joke lang... gagastos ka na lang, yung fancier than a 1.3j vios naman. 1.5g pwede na
*TS get the MS. no questions ask. im a student, still have a 5seater sedan, but as years pass by, i really want a bigger and seats more vehicle. a year ago, we were opting for a MS or an Innova, but due to some speculations, i still have my altis. im happy with it, but given the chance to have a bigger rig, i wouldnt pass on to that, ill grab it right away.
and oh, i live in malabon, bigger rigs (bigger than a sedan) are a must here. but it depends if you can afford owning one.
