Hello! So 9 years later after the previous post, I have the same dilemma. 2019 Forester 2.0i-L or the 2019 CR-V 2.0 S cvt?

1st choice is Forester for safety, AWD, ruggedness, not so common car/brand.
2nd choice is CR-V for interior and exterior looks, more casa, more outside-casa-shops that are knowledgeable with Hondas, availability of parts.

I know I want the Forester but if I will consider the availability of parts and its cost plus I plan on keeping the car for as long as I could, that's when I think the CR-V may be the better choice long term.
The car is going to be my do it all car- family, work, travel & adventure. Not sure if this info would help but my office is my house too so I won't drive the car as often as most people.

So I guess the question is: I know both are reliable cars but which one will be more cost-effective in the long term use?

PS: If the maintenance and cost of parts of Subaru aren't excessively higher than Honda's, I might go with the Subaru.

    Thank you!

Just get the TOTL XV with Eyesight.

I think it looks and performs better than the Forester.

If you want to replace your lower arm bushings every 20k, get the Forester. Favorite topic yan sa Subaru club lol. Big advantage of Subaru tho is eyesight system and AWD. CR-V still has the clever packaging, pero if you're looking at Honda, might want to consider the diesel model instead.

Montero GT might have huge discounts since update is coming soon. Price might be close to 1.8M. Has most of the features of the eyesight system and super select 4wd. Plus diesel and 7 seats.

ppvs like the GT are safer too with big impacts as they are 2.2Tons or so. and their suspension is built to heavier specs.

Yeah As much as possible, I want to keep the after market expenses to the minimum. That’s what’s throwing me off sa Subaru.

What makes the diesel better sir? Aside sa cheaper fuel than the gasoline.

Hi. Yeah the XV was my 1st choice but saw the boot. Too small for my liking.

Pulls better from standstill and better fuel economy, aside from cheaper fuel. Higher resale value and much easier to sell.

Problems are higher maintenance costs, and more parts that could go wrong. Religious maintenance is crucial if you go diesel.

I remember the gas vs diesel debate when the first gen Innova and Fortuner were released. 14 years later, you can see diesel won out.

If you want long term peace of mind, get the Honda CR-V ... If you have cash to spare and value safety, get the Subaru Forester ... Difference between Subaru XV and Subaru Forester is about 60T-80T only ...
